Never Lick envelopes

Post by Sweet Tooth »

Oh! That is sooo gross! Remember that one Seinfeld episode where George's wife dies because she licked all of the invitation envelopes and it was toxic? NOW I see why! EWW! Thanks for that info!

I used to buy the 'self licking' envelopes being a tight wad but NOW I'll pay extra for the 'peel off to stick down' ones no questions asked!!! ;)

This is a thoroughly preposterous and ridiculous premise.

It's an urban legend. It started in 2000. You can read the entire story here, verbatim, at snopes :

http://www.snopes.com/horrors/food/tacobell.asp

It baffles me that anybody over the age of 12 would take such a ludicrous story with any sense of seriousness.

It wasn't true. That was the point.

The story was so incongruous, yet everybody was more than willing to believe every word of it.

Guess that explains why things are as they are in our world.

Truth is stranger than fiction.

I bet that you choose other places then **** **** to eat sometimes nad I bet you look at your envelope more closely too!

You've just illustrated how these things can damage innocent parties.

Envelopes do not carry cockroach eggs, and the restaurant referenced in the original version of this rumour didn't infest anybody with vermin.

The most famous example of these hoaxes is the one about a large company that has satanic symbols in their corporate logo. That lie has caused them a vast amount of expense and grief.

Best to check out these wild e-mail rumours at snope.com first, before spreading them.

Ok, for Heavens sake its not real! But it gives you something to think about!

I believe entertainment can aspire to be art, and can become art, but if you set out to make art you're an idiot.

I used to date a girl named Enve Lopes, and I agree with the original statement.
