300 is the main one i definitely want to see. I watch the trailer about twice a week..over and over..i am so obsessed..it looks so so amazing. :o

chionsgirl...it's based on a graphic novel by Frank Miller (same man who gave us Sin City) and the novel is based upon the ancient battle of Thermopylae, where the Spartans (in Greece) had a very small group opeople and went to battle with some thousands and thousands and thousands in a persian army, possibly in excess of 2 million even. In the movie, they have the 300 Spartans against one million in the persian army. (actual battle that did historically occur) Here is a link to information about that battle..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Thermopylae

King Leonidas stayed behind with 300 Spartans, 400 Thebans, and 700 Thespian volunteers. Though they knew it meant their own deaths....

(the movie is based around only sending these 300 Spartans though, I believe. As it is more based upon Frank Millers novel, than trying to be historically accurate.)

Some images from the movie:

I thought that was the battle, it is a famous one.

I think my daughter wants me to go with her and her boyfriend, he hasn't had the fun of going to the movies with me-is this why I don't go very often? I will tell it like it is, and if it is historically inaccurate, I will kind of say it out loud in the movie-I loved telling off Troy, that was a horrid version of the Iliad.:)

Troy was yucky, yeah.

But 300 isn't trying to be historically accurate. They are basing the film off Frank Millers graphic novel, not the actual historical account.

I definitely can't wait for Grindhouse, but I'm also looking forward to Pulp Fiction star John Travolta's goofy turn in Wild Hogs. The trailer's on IFILM, and, ironically, even though Travolta's in it, William H Macy seems to steal the show.
