Q. Why does China have such terrible telephone communication problems?

A. Because there are so many Wings, and so many Wongs, people are constantly winging the wong number.

OK, so the joke is older than Father Time himself, and none but a twelve year old would appreciate it, but seriously, with literally hundreds of different symbols, how do they cope with text messages using a mobile phone? Most mobile phones cope with French, German, Italian, Spanish and Dutch symbols, but most mobiles only have about nine alphabet keys, so how does the Chinese system work out? It's not a joke, and it's not derogatory. If there are any Chinese "Gardeners" out there, I would appreciate a sensible answer.
