Doesn't look like I got it!!!

Post by SuzyB »

Last week I went for an interview for a job that would be ideal for me and the family.

I felt that the interview went really well and felt more than capable to do the job, they said that they would let me know today if I was successful, I haven't had a call so it's looks as though I haven't got the job :-1

It is so had trying to find a job that will fit in with looking after the kids, running a home and making sure that it will be okay with my back, that job would have been perfect, it was all I thought about since the interview!

It makes me wonder how I come across to people, am I too friendly in an interview setting? Maybe I need to be more professional? Or is my health putting Employers off?

I feel so frustrated :-5 :-5 :-5

:yh_hugs to you Suzy!! I am sure that you came across wonderful, don't take it personal, which is easier said than done. I've been in your position before and actually didn't get hired because I told my future employer that I had high cholosterol...which was crazy at the age 22...:-5 (they told me I had the job and then called me back and told me because of my health they didn't want to take the risk) But that was a long time ago....

It just wasn't meant to be, and something bigger and better is out there for you!! I KNOW this!:D

Meanwhile rest assured the you are Wonderfully Made!!:-4

If not this, there will be another. Good luck to you. Maybe you will hear from them yet.

Think of the law of averages too.

If this one falls through then it's one interview out of the way.

If it takes most people 3 or 4 interviews before the right job comes through then you're down by one now. It's good practice too. Interviews get easier and easier every time.

Why don't you come over to me and I can give you some competency based interview training. It will ensure that you are positioning yourself in the right way.

You are a really friendly person, but that's just one competency. We need to ensure that you're selling all your skills.

Give me a shout if you want to pop over and discuss.

You should not be discussing your health at interview as you are covered by the disability discrimination act - they should not be asking!

Thanks I might take you up on that, I thought you had to declare that you were disabled to employers? :-3

What a great post, thanks Novelty :-6

Now the children are older 10 and 11, I really would like to go back to work for many different reasons, I just guess I need to find the right Employer to put up with me :D

There's a reason you didn't get that job, you just don't know or see it yet. These things always work out somehow. I believe in the old saying "There's a reason for everything". You've possibly got a better job option coming up. Perhaps the old job you would have ended up HATING. Keep your chin up.
I probably posted that in an ambien trance-soryy

You most certainly do not have to disclose at interview anything about your health at all.

They are obliged to make reasonable adjustments for anyone with a disability. The only justifiable discrimination is things like a person in a wheelchair coaching a track team, or a man applying to be a personal carer for an elderly woman.
