Toss the Sunnis out into the desert, set them adrift. I read an article last week about Sunni girls, some as young as 14, having to work as prostitutes in Damascus. With their fathers dead, brothers fighting or dead they are the sole support for their families.

Pathetic. Saddam was rough, he had to be to keep the country in order but he never brought degradation like this to his people.

I may be wrong (I doubt it) we'll see how it works out but I do believe that the Shi'ites intend to keep Baghdad all for themselves.

I understand you concern here scrat, it seems so unfair to do this to people! but the other half of me can believe that this might be fore the better. Some of the poeple who are occupying these homes are the exact people who cause trouble all over Iraq and harm our troops and the small but slowly growing Iraqi troops. I know it puts alot of people out, but its probably for the better considering the poor government is struggling to be right and good! I dont know- thats a hard subject! My heart goes out to the innocent people.

Hang on. "the poor government is struggling to be right and good!". "Some of

the poeple who are occupying these homes are the exact people who cause

trouble all over Iraq". "half of me can believe that this might be fore the better".

Shureley shome mishtake? If true, how can it be anything *like* right, or

good?

I think it shows alot for a government to help itself with fighting terrorism. Even if it is their own people.

In the 1990's Russia installed a puppet government in Afghanistan after invading the country and ousting the legal national government.

Not only did the USA refuse to recognise the new government, they actively supported the "terrorist insurgents" who were fighting against the puppet government and the Russian troops who were supporting them.

These "terrorist insurgents" were not only Afghan supporters of the previous government, there were also fighters from the rest of the Muslim world, including Al Quada.

Could you point out where the current situation in Iraq now differs from the situation in Afghanistan then - apart from which side of the fence you are standing?

The OP referred to the situation of some people who are not involved in the fighting. If you think their treatment is in any way fair, then I put it to you that

you've a screw loose somewhere.

P.S. I am not concerning myself with politics here. Just people.
