ODD Driving Habit!!!

I have a friend that that won't make "LEFT" turns in his car! :wah:

He only will make "RIGHT" turns! Many times he goes several miles out of his way to accomplish this odd behavior. He has a deep fear of making left turns in his car, especially against oncoming traffic. Whenever we go somewhere together, I try to make sure I'm the one who drives, as we save a lot of time that way, cause I make left turns.

ANY BODY ELSE KNOW SOMEONE LIKE THIS? :-2

I know someone like that, who will only do right turns (we drive on the left)

it takes ages to get from A-B

Very strange, he's just frightened of driving into oncoming traffic! :driving:

LOL How strange, he should be driving if that's the case. He obviously isn't confident enough. I have a friend like that, she passed her test a couple of years ago and will only drive to work, no-where else even close-by as she's too nervous. I told her she shouldn't have passed her test.

i have to ask why? what started this deep fear?

Actually he's never had an accident himself, but he has seen several head on collisions when other people were making left turns against on coming traffic!

Fortunately, he does not have a problem when I drive, & I make left turns when/as required. If he did, I guess we wouldn't travel anywhere together.

hmm odd, i have heard of this before though actually, has he never considered seeking help for this? it seems like its something that he wont be able to cure himself

Actually he's content to continue to make Right turns, he doesn't see that as that much of a big deal. Even though it sometimes takes him 25 minutes making all his Right turns, where it only would take 10 minutes if he made a few left turns in the trip.

Oh well as long as he's happy enough with it, so might sound like a silly question here but...is it possible to ALWAYS reach your destination by only making right turns??

If I were him I'd have a few driving lessons to get his confidence going. At least then doing left turns he should feel safer being a dual control car.

There was a time in my life that I wouldn't make a left hand turn...

I went out of my way, yes it would take some time from point A to B, but I would not make a left hand turn.

Today I make very few left hand turns.

This phobia started after my husband died, I was 30 yrs old and wouldn't make a left hand turn. Anxiety

Theres a company - I believe its UPS or Fed Express - the drivers don't make left hand turns (company policy). Fewer accidents, and the stats proved to the better for the company for productivity etc..
