Without bringing the Christian thing into the conversation, could you say to your parents that you would really like to go to a State Uni, like UNM?

Surely it would be less expensive than a Christian College, which just might please them.

Christian colleges are often limited in the degrees that they offer. Typically, no engineering or business related courses. Find a course of study that the state college has that isn't available at the Christian college and tell your folks that you really want to pursue that course of study.
