Circumcision

Circumcised fathers with new baby boys will typically have the new baby circumcised and uncut fathers will typically have their new sons left intact.

Single new moms will generally ask others. Circumcision is not routinely practiced in Scandanavia, New Zealand & Australia. This subject can really get the adrenalin going with many folks, with each giving references to justify their position.

As for me, despite having been born in Newark, New Jersey at a Jewish Hospital, I was able to leave intact and will be forever grateful.

And I was born in Passaic, New Jersey at a Catholic hospital and I'm circumcised.

No problems. Why be grateful?

Because I could decide for myself at a later date. Had I been cut, there's not putting it back.

The pediatrician told me when my sons were born this was more an aesthetic thing now. I admit I had no knowledge to speak of and I also did not want to have my little baby boy cut on. Then, they did it without any anesthesia. I went to the bathroom and cried for the rest of the morning over that. My husband went with it as he had been circumcised and didn't want our son to wonder why he was different. I do recall reading about older guys who weren't when they were born and later on had the surgery. They had related how odd they felt in the locker room and said the surgery as an adult was pretty painful.

Looking back, I hope we did the right thing, as it is done. If not, I have no doubt our sons will let us know at some point, or least their father anyway. lol

My boys were born in Mississippi.

It's not the fathers choice, it's just that most father want their sons to be the same so that when the youngster sees daddy naked there need not be any discussion as to why the difference.

New York. Long Island Jewish Hospital. I heard my first sons very distinctive crying, I went down the hall, and the doctor who did the procedure let me in the room. My baby was tied to a board. Hands and feet. Im sorry I saw that. What I thought was routine, seemed quite barbaric. How sad to suffer a trauma like that upon being in the world for only 3 days.

I am sooooo glad I did not have to make that decision, no sons for me. I know my grandson is NOT cut, his dad is. They likely will not have the procedure done, and here in western Canada, it's about 50 50 to cut or not to cut. SO no young boy should feel different these days.

I had an adult circumcision a few years ago through necessity. I caught thrush, and then tightened up so much I found it was impossible to retract or have normal physical relations with my wife. Once I had it done - I had to go private, it really did something for me psychologically. Mother nature hadn't been very good to me "down there", and I would often find using public conveniences anything but convenient. Modesty made me use a cubical. As soon as I was circumcised, I felt I was a man, unashamed for others to see me, and I have had no hang ups about size ever since. Although I had fifteen self-disolving stitches, I did not feel particularly uncomfortable, the only side effect is that the glans area (your helmet, to the uninitiated) grows a second skin, like when you graze yourself. The only other effect it has is while healing, the glans swell to three times it's normal size - sorry lads, but it soon returns to it's original size! Also, to many people, a circumcised penis looks more "manly." Mainly poorly endowed, uncircumcised blokes have hang ups about such matters.

I thought it was religon based. And also having to do with whether or not your parents could afford it or not.

My father was born in a house by a midwife and they could not get him to the hospital until a month after he was born. So he is not circumcised.

I knew a man I dated who was from a very very large and poor Mexican family in Texas and was not circumcised.

And I also have known others who just think it is too cruel and leave their sons uncircumcised.

Much of it is based on religion - especially the Jewish religion, where if the family is very authodox, they will have the child presented on the eighth day.

"For the generations to come, every male child who is amongst you who is eight days old must be circumcised, including those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner - those who are not of your offspring. Whether born in your household or bought with your money, they must be circumcised. My covenant in your flesh is to be an everlasting covenant (Genesis 17 v 12). Few people have ever wondered what is so special about the eighth day. The reason is remarkable - there is nothing magical about the Jewish race. The immunity against disease of ANY male child of any race or nationality is at it's strongest on the eighth day of it's life. Thereafter, it drops slightly and then proceed at a normal rate. Nobody knows why, but it is something any doctor will confirm.

Yes---------The uncircumcised guys glans is considerably more sensitive than the circumcised due to being covered most of the time. That's a plus for the guy. Self control must be practiced to have longer staying power.

I've heard that too...actually heard that some don't keep it real clean...that makes me gag. But I've never been with a man that wasn't circumcised so can't speak from experience.

I thought they circumcised strictly for health and medical reasons now-a-days? My family on my dad's side is very Jewish and I have some jewish blood, so I was kind of considering doing the whole bringing in a rabbi on the 8th day thing- but only because its a tradition that has continued since the Bible times! I am a sucker for tradition! Ever see Fiddler on the Roof? ya, thats my family! haha!

2 different reason here

-Jews do it for cleanliness

-Africans do it because they feel they should be inferior to men- they dont get pleasure, only men

Never seen a circumsized one (not that I've seen that many!).

Never had a problem in the bedroom with staying power so can't comment. Mainly the old man is nudging me to keep me awake.

On a side note poor little grandson has an infection in the top of his. Told his great-great-nanny that he has a 'sore dinky' bless him

I've heard that it takes a lot to keep and UNcircumised penis healthy and clean.

It's no more of a problem than for a uncircumcised female.

Obllcosk. In the UK it's a small minority who are circumcised these days - virtually limited to Jews, Muslims, and for medical reasons. Forty or fifty years ago, it was fashionable amongst certain classes - not now.
