I get teary eyed all the time at the garden...got teary eyed when I read Uncle Fester's thread about the elderly couple that died together.

I cried a hard cry last Wednesday and first thing in the morning, when I woke up to find a pm from a sweet and thoughtful man at the Garden giving me encouragement to make it through a very tough day. I cried throughout that day, off and on all day.

May 9, 2007...The day I lost my sweet Mason:-4

Wendy, honey, forgive me. I'm not up to reading all the posts lately and don't know who Mason is. I am so sorry for your loss:-4

Suzy B. Love ya and miss ya:-4 Wishing you all the best and hoping that you'll find peace and happiness soon. Hope both you and Jimbo never leave the garden. It would be so sad here if you both left.

Brothers funeral. Couldn't help it, couldn't speak to anyone. Don't know about American culture but in mine it's supposed to be all stiff upper lip you're not supposed to get emotional or let others know what you feel and only women cry in public. My mother showed nothing at all, nearly ninety now I reckon her generation lost so many loved ones stoicism was a necessary survival strategy.

Come to think of it stoicism is a rather good way to face up to things. railing against life's misfortunes doesn't get you very far does it.

I can relate to that, think it has to do with the way you are raised also along with the blood that runs through your veins. I come from a lot of German and Scott/Irish blood...and am told how my great Grandparents never showed emotion... My Grandfather broke the mold by giving out affection, but we still have that underlying understanding that crying is for private places. I HATE and I mean HATE for people to see me cry...I have this horrible habit of apolgizing for crying...just came natural.

But I am a big softy and get very emotional easily...:-4

I cry at sad or emotional movies and dont apologize for it..i was raised in a do not touch kinda family but after i had my kids i got huggy and kissy...and i love ot hug people now...my mom tickles me cause she will stand there all stiff but wait for her hug when i arrive...she loves them..jsut never got used ot it i reckon..i hug my nieces and nephews too..even the grown ones...my nieces said it is one of the reasons they love me....they were telling me that their mom(my sister) never hugged them growing up and very rarely told them she loved them....i even go out of my way to hug older people i meet in town...the:-6 power of touch and compassion goes along way..the smile on their faces when i walk off is worth a million bucks to me...
