Stop it with the photos people!

Post by koan »

This is a reminder that when you start a new thread with a photo hotlinked (inserted directly in the message) it causes the homepage to explode.

Please attach the pictures through the "manage attachment" button.

After the first post in the thread you can do whatever you want with the pictures.

It is a little confusing. More detail is helpful.

First: it only matters in the opening post when you start a new thread. This is because the new thread appears on the homepage in the centre panel. If the photo is large it will cause the margins to expand to the width of the photo and the screen goes berserk.

Second: There are two ways of putting photos into a post. You can use [IMG] tags - hotlinking or you can use the "Manage Attachments" button under the reply box.

If you use the attachments box you have two options

1) upload a photo directly from your computer or

2) posting the link - without the [IMG] part of the tag, just the "http:" part

After the thread is opened the replies will not affect the homepage.

OH! I understand now Koan. Thanks!

Glad it helped you Neffy, I have never been able to upload a pic from my puter to the garden. That Manage Attachment button just blows me away. I can't get it to work.

If I have a photo from the web, I click on properties and upload it that way. That's the only way I know to do it.

I am hopeless. :yh_cry
When choosing between two evils, I always like to take the one I've never tried before.
