You realised that you were gauche, and had made an enormous faux pas?

Gosh...I've made enormous faux pas all my life; I'm not sure what the first one would have been.

As for being gauche, welllll.....I worry about that sometimes. Sometimes my "down to earth-ness" is seen as me being crass or crude and I admit that it does hurt my feelings. The worst time was when someone whom *I* think really *is* crude, (even though she's a good person) told me her that husband had told her that *I* was crude. :( That really hurt a lot. In fact, it still does. And these people like me a lot even and are friends of mine. I like to think I have a little more class than that, but I guess not everyone thinks that about me.

Well I've always been left handed and my mother told me I always left enormous faux pas in every nappy :-6

The one that sticks out best in memory was around the age of 24, i wanted the ground to open & swallow me.

Not sure it's an age thing. Perhaps when you hit mid life you care a little less about fitting in.

One time; I asked a customer where I work , this was an outdoors part where beggars sometimes hang around and have to be moved on, if a lady that I'd seen standing close by him had been begging. I wanted the ground to open up when he got a bit sticky and said " No, that was my Mum". :lips:

I think I watch too much T.V. and have seen too much eyecandy. I have an inner vamp but sometimes come across just a tad less cool. I was talking to someone at work once and leaned over to rest my hand on the table, missed it and stumbled. I was able to laugh at myself. Once in a job Ii leaned back too far in my chair and it tipped right over. The worse thing was there was an embarrassed silence. Would have preferred someone to giggle them apologize.
