I tried to do a little poetry?

Post by KB. »

I originally put this in the Daisy-chain thread, but I think I went off topic maybe with it? So I'll just put it here.

First verse is something an old friend of mine did; look in my picture thread; Sunshine would be she. Second verse is mine.

Then alternate. Maybe I will put mine in italics.

How does that manifestation look?

It looks lost, confused; like an unread book.

What is returning that miserable forlorn glare?

Self doubt, hope, troublesome weight, and a too harsh stare.

What is it that you see when you look into that mirror?

A man with no home, a gambler with no cards to play, a blind man wishing to see things clearer.

Do you even know the man who's standing there?

I used to know him, but that was so long ago; he seems to have disappeared into thin air.

Is he a person that you are ashamed to admit you know?

Shame is sometimes the cruelest blow.

Is he someone who's learned to casually accept defeat?

You don't have to accept defeat when you do not attempt to compete.

Is it someone that reminds you of a better day?

The better days seem to have been chased away, the mood is in disarray.

Or is it someone you think you'll never get the chance to actually meet?

That would take an acrobatic feat; I would have to walk through reinforced concrete.

What do you think I see when I look into those eyes?

I think you see a man you just want to decriminalize.

What do you think I want to take by peering into that soul?

Damage control, make it once again whole.

What do you think I feel when I see my reflection?

Mutual affection; opportunistic infection?

From the one who makes my heart feel remarkably whole?

A soul who just wishes to be stamped "yes' on his parole.

Do you think that woman you see is stunning or

Like a warm comforter in winter I adore.

Do you think that little girl she used to be is sad?

I think I am raving mad.

Do you see the sorrow and distress I feel for you;

I see a tithe that is past due, interest has accrued.

And do you wonder how a look can hurt so bad?

I wonder if I can put my heart in the want ads.

Do you know why I see that splendor?

I just wish I could surrender; beg for the mercy of the courts on a first offender.

Do you know why no one will ever steal it away?

I already miss my Father's Day.

Do you know what I see in those tattletale eyes of yours?

I think you see a veteran of too many foreign wars.

Do you think you'll ever be able see it someday?

I just hope this prayer is something I can convey.

The reason that I find my vitality and my courage

Help me find that reason before I become too discouraged.

The atlas that helps me find my consoling place

Atlas could not shoulder the space between the embrace.

The reason I sleep through the nights and wake in the mornings

Is the reason I have held back my own mournings.

The reason is found in the look upon your face.

When will that be replaced; my loss will disgrace.

The way you beam when I kiss you

To be renewed

The way you breathe relief from one innocent touch

I miss it like a cripple misses a crutch.

The reason I find in your eyes and in their truths

It would take the skills of an unfailing sleuth.

The reasons I continue to believe in all of it so much

To bring back that soft touch.

Do not try to hide them from the world by putting your face into your hands

I hide not from the world but from the one that understands.

Do not try to veil them from me in disbelief or apprehension or fear

It is you I revere, you make it all so clear.

You could close them for a thousand different lifetimes

I could close them long enough to make everything seem to rhyme.

Only to open them and find me still standing here.

And hope to only persevere.

It would have been even better if she had written it for me. There is one of the reasons you were looking for earlier.

I'm just as guilty of it as she is; only difference is the time line. Rarely ever is there a clear cut bad/good guy situation.
