I had a letter off a company (Comet) today telling me that they had cancelled the order i had made for a TomTom sat nav.

Problem is, I already have one and i never placed the order!

It was paid for with a switch card (I dont have one) to go to an address in London ( I live in Manchester)

Thankfully that alerted the company & when they checked the IP address they found that 70 orders had been placed using different credit cards.

How on earth did they get my details?

I've cancelled all my cards ( just in case ) and it's left me feeling vulnerable.

that is awful abbey,it seems to be happening alot now.My friend at work last year had a phone call from her bank,someone had stole nearly £3000 the last time she used her debit card was in a indian restruant

Strange thing is, in my case, i had bought something from comet the week before........coincidental???????

That is horrible! And what an inconvenience to you, to cancel all your credit cards!

Uh Oh.... I dont like to hear this. I have had 2 incidents like this. If you have ever bought anything on line you are vulnerable. Spot helped me get my money back, last January. Someone purchased memberships to adult web sites using my debit card number, Charges totalling 160.00. I had to change my atm card, checking account, and e mail adress. Never open an e mail that comes from anyone you do not recognize, or one that you do not expect. Few months ago someone used my drivers liscence number on two bad checks they wrote. Same scenarion. I had to prove MY identity to the stores. One sho store, one jewelrey store. And I had to have my liscence number changed. Be very careful out there kids.

This happened to my ex-boss, it took him ages to sort it out:-5

I'm paranoid, I shred anything with my personal details on, you never know who's routing around in your wheelie bins:mad:

Just because youre paranoid doesnt mean theyre not out to get you.
