This is my life...

Post by weeder »

Why have I been lying on the couch watching movies??? Because Wednesday I sprained my ankle badly, and have been laying around with a bag of ice as my companion. Here I am preparing to go to sales school on Monday, and then SanFransisco on Thursday ( lots of walking) big week ahead. i decided to stop into our local ( waste of time) mall to see if I could pick up an extra travel bag on sale. When I got out of my truck, my right foot went down into a deep crevice in the black top of the badly neglected parking lot. I actually fell on my knees. It was excruciating. I stood up and waited for a while to deal with the pain, and to see how bad it was. Now, Im the kind of ( foolish) woman who generally just brushes herself off, or gets a band aid, or limps away and says nothing. You know, like Oh, well, my bad luck? This time I was furious. The neglect of the company to keep the lot repaired just messed up my whole life.I havent been out landscaping for 2 days $$$$ And I will be handicapped on my trip. So I went into the management office, showed them my foot, and let them know how angry I was. I also told them that I was there to make certain this didnt happen to anyone else. I think they should have at least said. " Ok then, we are going to put you in a wheel chair, take you around the mall, and anything you want is on us!!!!!! Ha! Only on lifetime. They said" Sorry" Now, call me crazy.

But yesterday I really thought Id get a phone call from the executive I spoke to, asking me if my ankle was OK. What do you think???? You got it. No phone call. Thankfully, I am still able to find ways to cope with and work around the hurdles, injurys, set backs life throws our way. But the incident did make me very aware of what this incident would have meant for someone less capable, or someone who would truly be incapacitated for days. Im thinking that maybe its wise to walk around looking down, instead of up. But that would create the potential for getting hit by a car. But then, maybe if the victim didnt have medical coverage..... that would be a more manageable circumstance. At the least if it put you in the hospital... there would be personell to care for you. Creditors wouldnt be able to call you, and they would give you pain pills. You could float around in semi awareness for a few days..... and just dream

Thats right!!! Actually, I just wrote to the company who owns the mall. Told them how lousy their public relations skills are. I couldnt resist. Wanted to scare them a little. Ill be Ok in a couple of days. And actually, other than giving me something to write about?? Everything happens for a reason. Have to try to find the humor.............

The gods are not impressed with my humour today!

They decided to get me back for making comments about being able to type.

I shut my finger in the door of hubby's van - ouch!

It hurts and is throbbing and typing isn't so easy now.

I'm a muppet!! :thinking::wah:

It's divine retribution completely deserved!

am typing still, I'm being brave, feel I must soldier on for the sake of the common good.

Either that or it's a delaying tactic to prevent me doing what I should be doing!!

Aw Weeder that really sucks, I feel for you hun, I know company's are caring less and less about what happens on their property unless you are employed by them. Buggers for not getting back to you.

Put yer foot up, rest it, ice it, and have a cup of tea. When you gotta get out and walk wrap it snuggly (not to tight to cut off circulation) and do your best to enjoy San Fran.

Huggs

I did exactly what you prescribed Mel... Its much better. But honestly, if I could just find out who owns the damn mall... Id like to give them a little negative input. Big mystery..... WHO owns the mall?

There isn't a main office?? They won't give that information to you? Chamber of Commerce might be a good place to start, they might be able to tell you.

I tried to reply to this early this morning and I was running late for work, and I hit a wrong button....so about 6 hours later....

Sorry about your injury---especially right before you trip west. Ugh!

Do you have a local news station or newspaper? They may be interested in a story about that local business and their unconcern for the welfare of their local patrons..................you know what I mean?:sneaky:

I cant believe you said that. That is exactly what I mentioned in my e mail to the company who owns the mall. Problem is the management company will not tell me who owns the mall. Weird huh?

I would immediately take pictures of your injuries, the parking lot and space where you were parked, showing the ill repaired spot. If the accident was due to this ill repaired parking space and not due to negligence on your part, you have cause for action on a personal injury law suit. Usually, the mere threat of such a suit would cause the owners of the parking lot to compensate you for your injuries, besides, they carry insurance for such events. Secondly, I would contact a Personal Injury lawyer (check the yellow pages). If they feel you have a case, they generally handle it on a contingency basis. You pay nothing and they take 30 to 40% of any settlement. This is quite common in California. I would also line up any witnesses to the event.

Ahhhhh Laura,:-4

I'm so sorry to hear about your fall. I thought that I only did that....I've fractured and sprained my ankle so many times. Hope you feel better.

You better start exercising you ankle girl as you have a lot of walking up and down those hills of San Francisco.

Good on you for going on this trip. I visited SF long ago and still have fond memories of the city...loved everything about it.

Take care luv and have a good time.
