Jr.High meet my Son

So my son is coming to the end of his 7th week at his new school. Boy! they truly didn't understand when I said 'he's full of personalty' !

He came home last night and said (in a very adult manner) 'Mum, I had to lodge a complaint against a teacher today'. Well my first reaction was then :yh_giggle Apparently a teacher threw 2 hardback books at another child, narrowly missing his head. So at the end of the lesson, Josh marches to the office and states 'I want to register a complaint against a teacher'. The secretary was a bit :-2, but took the necessary details. Later my son saw the Principal talking to the teacher and as he passed them, the teacher said 'Sorry, I have anger issues'.

I'm just wondering if his anger issues were as serious as the crime of 'stealing' what you believed to be yours from the Lost and Found box (but thats another thread), causing the teacher to get an 'in-school' suspension?

So 7 weeks into the new school, my son has:

7 days sent home by the school nurse due to illness (I said to her, she really needs to toughen up). My son has her wrapped around his little finger!

1 day 'in-school' suspension for the very iffy 'stealing' incident.

2 days 'in-school' suspension for 'decking' a kid that was bullying another kid. Clearly, the school policy of 'zero tolerance of violence' is not working as well as it should, as the bully broke the other kids finger! And, they have not yet communicated the policy to the 'book slinging' teacher.

A complaint against a teacher.

Well I never said it was going to be easy when I met the teachers He is very energetic, sympathetic, caring, and down right stupid at times, he will always stand up for what he thinks is right or wrong. A quality that is probably very annoying at school - but IMO a quality that will make him into a caring and successful adult.

Have your kids done stuff at school that got them into trouble? How did you deal with it, specially when you thought it very iffy?

my darling little demon child gets in trouble every now and again, she has since since pre-school and she's in first grade now. :rolleyes: The other day she was caught telling another kid to throw water all over the bathroom floor!

she knows we expect her to act a certain way at home and at school and she does get punished so thankfully she does behave most of the time. :wah:

I remember a time when my son was about 8 years old. His teacher caught me picking him up from school and pulled me to one side. She looked quite serious and said i have to tell you about something your son has started doing, its concerning me a lot. I was thinking omg whats he done, heart thmping, stomach turning over. Then she said well he has started running up behind the girls and lifting up their skirts:-2 Now i know thats not on as of course its not very nice for the girls and he shouldnt be alowed to think doing something like that is ok. But i did have to think to myself oh fgs he obviously thinks its very funny indeed, and its one of those things they do at that age i suppose. i told her i would certainly have a stern word with him, which i did. about a week later, he did it again! This time the teacher could hardly bring herself to tell me in exact words, she said he has done that , er you know, er that thing again, in a sort of whisper. Now i was really concerned and angry, at my son for not listebning to me, but also at the teacher because the way she was talking and acting was like she thought he was some sort of 8 year old pervert and needed help!:wah: Whereas he was just being a bloomin little tormenter cos he knew the girls would scream and run away. He wasnt trying to touch them or anything it was just a case of whip! up with the skirt and run away laughing. i asked the teacher how she had dealt with it, punishment etc. she said she told him if he did it again she would put a skirt on him and stand him in front of the class and the girls could come and lift up the skirt!!! I just looked at her and said,,,,,,,, But you wouldnt do that,,, would you. She said very hesitantly erm well no. Dont get me wrong, he needed to learn he couldnt do that and it was wrong and disrespectful to girls, but i think there is a difference between punishment and humiliation.

Pheasy did you get that sorted? about the stealing accusation?

Well, with the 'sweater' incident, I was powerless to do anything except get a letter from me on file. Josh had already served his time! so I could not get that back. So I sent a letter (insisting it went on his file), stating that I had read the 'school handbook' and no where did it have a policy for reclaiming 'lost and found', so as far as Josh was concerned the policy was the same as his elementary school, 'if its yours, you take it out of box'. I also questioned, that as there was no policy in the handbook, had they verbally communicated a policy (they said they had not). I reiterated that I felt it was a mis-understanding, and that Josh genuinely thought it was his sweater. So, that's as much as I could do - at least its on file. And with no 'priors', hopefully future references to his file will show that the whole thing was very 'iffy'

Oh well at least you have documentaion there to say you do not accept he was stealing. I still cant believe someone there just decided this was the fact, i mean its just their opinion, and a very "iffy" one like you say. Your son sounds like he can give them a run for their money though:D

He does a lot of things without thinking, which lands him in trouble. Its so difficult to be mad at him cos 9 times out of 10 his heart was in the right place :-4

Wow, I'm impressed with Josh! Good for him on that teacher and for punching that nasty kid. Since when do we throw things at students?! Sheez. I had a teacher who pulled ears and smacked with rulers back in the 70s. Has nothing changed? I like someone who will stand up for the underdog. That's a very worthy quality to me. :-6
