I'm taking a Cruise on November 3rd to Mexico. Galveston, TX to Cozumel, Mexico to Progreso, Yucatan, Mexico then back to Galveston, TX.
Has anyone taken the same cruise? Our ship is called the Ecstasy, I've already checked out the ship on the website. Took the little virtual tours and such. It's a beautiful ship.
When we get to Cozumel we're taking the Mayan Jungle Explorer excursion.
Details;
Experience a cenote snorkeling, zip line and biking adventure on this 3-in-1 combination excursion!
On this exciting excursion you will:
Take an approximate 45-minute ferry ride to Playa del Carmen, mainland Mexico, where your adventure guide will meet you at the pier and transport you to one of the most magical sites in the Yucatan Peninsula, Chick-Ha.
Begin your adventure with a bicycle journey on jungle roads passing by Mayan-style mini plantations before arriving at the cenotes.
Have the opportunity to explore this extraordinary system of caverns while swimming and snorkeling in their crystalline waters.
Then, see nature from above, as you zip through the jungle with a bird’s eye view. Sitting in a harness attached to a series of cables strung among the treetops of the dense jungle areas, you will enjoy three exhilarating flights of up to 200 feet!
Following your zip line adventure, you will witness a traditional sacred Mayan purification ceremony at the mystical cenote of Aluxes, conducted by a genuine Mayan Shaman.
Then, enjoy a Yucatecan lunch and relax in a hammock before riding back to the station for the drive back to the pier.
Then,.. When we get to Progreso, Yucatan we're going to see Chichen Itza. (Which has made the list of the New 7 Wonders of the World!)
Details;
Tour Chichen Itza, one of the most important archaeological sites on the American continent and once home of the great Mayan Empire.
On this excursion you will:
Begin with a scenic and informative 2-½ hour bus ride.
Arrive at the Ruins and be led through the legendary city, extending over 6 square miles with hundreds of structures.
Explore the pyramid of Kulkulcan, the ball court, the mystical cenote, the temple of the warriors and the observatory.
Enjoy a box lunch as you board the motor coach for your return journey to the ship.
I'm really excited. This will be my second cruise.
Does anyone have any tips? (relating to Mexico, and a cruise to Mexico.)
I'm pretty good with travel tips. I know most of the basics. If there's anything special i should know about traveling to Mexico, tips are defiantly encouraged.
My first cruise was lovely. It gets a lot of bad reviews. I guess the people reviewing it were expecting extravagant rooms. Not my style. I believe I heard something about the cruise retiring after 50+ years of cruising. (It's not retired yet. I think i read they plan on retiring it in 2009. I'm not positive though.) The boat was like a sail boat compared to the other boats we docked next too. I loved it though. It was a great first cruise experience. Nassau is kinda ghetto though. We did go on an amazing excursion to Blue Lagoon Island. If you go to the Bahamas take that excursion. The sand and water is breath-taking there. I believe our ship was called the Regal Empress.
I'll probably have a ton of photos from Mexico. I'm taking 4 or 5 cameras. :] (They all have different options, and i'm a camera freak.) I'll probably post the photos in my FG journal. :]

I hope so too!
You've never gone on a cruise or you've never gone to Mexico?
If you've never gone on a cruise i highly recommend doing so. You can get good deals on small ships and if you don't have a lot of money just wondering around instead of taking excursions is just as fun. (Although, If you get motion sickness i recommend taking a lot of motion sickness pills, and those arm bands that help with those things.) I think the Regal Empress is a perfect first time cruise. I had so much fun. The only problem is, it might cost quiet a bit to fly down to Florida.
By personal choice I would rather go to Norway or Finland, or something more exotic than Mexico. Beggars can't me choosers. (Unless they have a lot of money.) :p
