What famous (or pseudo-famous) people would you like to have a beer (or ginger ale, etc.)with? Someone you admire, but who you think you would be comfortable enough around to just have out with and shoot the breeze?
Random examples: I love Will Smith , but I would rather have a beer with Samual L Jackson.
Weirdly, I think I would be more relaxed sitting around with Adam Sandler than Ben Stiller, despite the fact that I adore both of them.

Anyone from the "Food Channel." I'd love to just sit and shoot the breeze with Paula Deane, Jamie Oliver:-4, Rachel, Ina, Giada..anyone. Plus, I'd love to spend some time with Livia and family at Becco's restaurant in NY:-4

Chezzie, I'm so excited about the fact that some of our cable channels are showing many shows from the UK. SO, maybe I'll get to see some of your shows.

Chez, I don't know the names of the UK Food shows right now because I'm flipping through the channels and view some great shows from the UK. But, they're half way through the show when I watch them and don't post a name of the show.. I"ll get back to you when I have a chance .

This is somewhat related to the theme of this thread.
I used to be obsessed with Dorothy Hamill, the ice skater. Watching her win her gold medal in the Olympics in 1976 was a big emotional experience for me, that stayed with me for years afterwards. Fortunately I'm over all of that at this point, but as of about 6 years ago where in the world do you think she plopped herself down to live?
Right here in B'more! (Baltimore) Can you believe it?!!
She's got two different residences here in the city, one of which is right here in downtown Baltimore. In fact as part of her charitable work, she serves on the Board of Directors of the neighborhood Association which represents this area I live in. I think I saw her walking down the street last winter, and I must say I'm surprised we don't see her in public more often. Maybe I've seen her more than once but simply didn't recognize her. I don't think she travels with bodyguards or anything.
Of course when I saw someone I thought to be her last winter, I debated whether or not I should approach her and say hello, but decided against it. For one thing, she looked as if she was in a hurry. Second of all, in the 30-some years since she got famous she's probably been confronted by gazillions of people running up to her on the street with the, "ARE YOU DOROTHY HAMILL?" approach. She probably doesn't respond well to it. And, yes, I would be crushed if she ignored me or brushed me off.
Back in '76, I was under the impression I ran into Dorothy over in Washington, D.C. just a couple of days after the Bicentennial when I was over there. I've never been certain if this was her or not because when I approached that girl back then and asked her if she was Dorothy Hamill, she responded with, "Maybe I am and maybe I'm not," before waltzing off, (whoever she was.) I'd love to know the truth, but it's not likely that stopping her on the street on a blustery winter day when she was on her way somewhere in a hurry, would have been the time or place for her to wrack her brain trying to see if she remembered me.
The word out on the streets around here is that Dorothy is a friendly faghag. For those of you who don't know what a, "faghag," is, this is a straight woman who partakes of the company of gay men, in order to guard against her being come upon by straight men. This downtown neighborhood, Mount Vernon, is heavily gay, and there are numerous gay men around here who claim to have met her, or even to know her outright.
