Unsubscribe

The other day my friend Kate mentioned a technique for handling unwanted email messages. If someone writes her something rude or inappropriate or stupid, she'll just click "Reply" and type the word "Unsubscribe" before hitting "Send". I happen to think this is genius, and I do believe I'll begin employing it starting today. I like imagining someone writing something to me, expecting a long and well thought out email and instead opening up my reply to read a solitary word: UNSUBSCRIBE.



In fact, I might begin using it in face-to-face communication as well. Imagine this: I'm in a bar and a striped shirt guy comes up to me and says "Hey baby, my name is Ryan, you're hot". Instead of actually talking to him, I might just say "Unsubscribe", and turn the other way. I think it could be incredibly effective. At the very least, it'll amuse me, which is all I really care about. Now I just have to figure out a way to get a guy to hit on me. Hmmm....
