I was watching a programme on the telly last week about advertising led web companies such as Facebook. It made me cancel my subscription.

I jokingly set up a site called Facelift, a site for the older gardener. It didn't catch on as I just let it sit there.

I was amazed just what you sign away joinging these sites. One company has the right to trawl through your text messages on your phone to pinpiont specific ads to you. The other work that goes on behind the scenes is as intrusive but who reads the small print? .

It made me feel that all the members were pawns in the advertisers pockets and the more you talked the more you were targeted. It's a case of be careful what you say as your information is being logged and can be used to companies advantage.

One bloke lost his job after he posted something detremental about the company he worked for.. it took the company less than an hour to find it on the web as they constantly check up on you!

I hope this isn't a case of bah humbug (I actually feel lucky because I (hopefully ) don't have to go out and do any last minute shopping and have a bit of time on my hands!!
