Go to start, run, type in services .msc; then scroll down down until you find windows audio. Right click windows audio and select properties, then look for where it says startup type, make sure that selection is set to automatic. Make sure you restart after doing this.

try that and get back to me if it dont work

also have you tried re-installing drivers???

Go to start, run, type %SystemRoot%system32services.msc, press enter, scroll down until you find Windows Audio, double click it, select automatic, click apply, select start, click OK.

Logically the only explaination to this is that after XP has been re-installed it sets your cumputer back to square one. the computer itself with reconise some of the hardware like cd rom and etc.. but sometimes not things like graphics cards and sound cards and what not the only way your going to get your WIRELESS and your SOUND to work is to Re-Install the original drivers.

You should have a CD with all the drivers if not you will need to get one otherwise find out what type of soundcard you have and download the drivers off the same website as your laptop.

There are no other reasons why they shouldnt work especially if you have already turned up the volume fully on your computer. Also with your wireless what have you done with the software for your modem? if you have already installed that either check your FIREWALL settings and IP settings to check nothing is being blocked.

Any Questions? Reply back and i will answer them.

Jimbo, if you tell us the MODEL of the laptop we might be able to get a little further.

It'll say on a sticker underneath. You need to turn it upside down.

Fujitsu Siemens might label it the "Ident. Nr."

It's like asking what part to get when all we know so far is that you drive a Ford Cortina.

If you go to http://www.fujitsu-siemens.co.uk/rl/ser ... index.html

and type M1450G into the first box and click the arrow <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<[1]

it'll show you a list of all the drivers for all the devices.

If you download the Audio one, remember where you download it to, you'll find a ZIP file which you can open.... maybe that's a bit optimistic. On Start / Programs / Accessories I think there's a Windows Explorer, that'll let you see the ZIP file and go inside it.

If you drag out the folder to somewhere like My Documents, then go in it and run setup.exe you ought to get a full install of your audio.

If you still don't have sound after doing that and rebooting, we'll think a bit more.

[1] - that might be simplistic, you might have to dork around a bit telling it the model, it's hard for me to describe because once it's done the site short-cuts every time I try doing it again. You're looking for Driver Downloads, XP though.

Just so it's said (not that I think you're missing anything but it really was the answer to this problem once) you do have the volume turned up? It's Function+F5 - several presses - on that laptop. There's lots of sliders on the accessories volume control as well if you look there, on e of them might be off, you never know until you look.

I looked optimistically for a volume control dial on the side of that laptop but sadly there ain't one. That would have been more worth mentioning.

Look, I had a laptop for months not realizing the reason it was far too quiet was because the external control was only half turned up, I felt right chuffed when I discovered there was one.
