Baseball and the Constitution

Post by Clint »

Will someone tell me why the U.S. Congress is spending all this time and energy on BASEBALL? Have they lost touch with reality or is oversight of baseball a constitutional requirement I just didn’t know about?

Mabye it is:

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Entertainment, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common Passtime, promote the general Admission, and secure the Blessings of Extra Innings to ourselves and our Pocketbooks, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Yes!

I thought it was just me! I love baseball, but wtf? It's not just today, these folks spent all last week on the subject, holding separate meetings with the different politicians. What cracks me up is that they are apparently split along political party lines in their judgment of Clemens honesty?:-2

Could someone explain why the GOVERNMENT is involved in sports at all ??

Since when?

Thats the same as the GOVERNMENT coming into any company & interogating employees for he said she said.

I suppose the GOVERNMENT doesn't have enough to do

Like discuss the WAR or Health Care or or or

Very irritating

I say who gives a crap what kind of performance enhancing drugs they do. Let them take whatever they please. If your kids look up to them and emulate them then you haven't properly raised them. They aren't my hero's. However I do love to watch sports. If they choose to put things in their bodies to enhance themselves, I say who gives a crap. I think I'll send Roger a letter to tell them ongressmen to quit worrying about HGH and send me my check.

Hero - please - Government has no business investigating what anyone takes into their body. Why should they (government) care ?

rj - you don't think your local Firemen (hero) hasn't been on steroids.??

Values - values - since when do I need the Government to tell or restrict me to perform or act like they want me to..

Pretty soon we'll all be put into our shoe box and have to ask permission to come out..

This is BS

you should care - everyone should care - its your taxes - your money - your elected officials.

This is one step closer to dictatorship.

what do you mean gay marriage issue

what do you mean abortion issues

I don't want my officials to re invent the wheel

I don't want Roe vs Wade reversed - there is no issue here.

I don't want dictatorship either

sorry Clint - I stick to baseball..

It really isn't about baseball, it's about a Congress that has lost its way. Is it that Congress doesn't know what its job is anymore or are they trying to cover the fact they have lower approval ratings than the President?

There shouldn't be an organization in the world taken more seriously than the U.S. Congress but they make themselves look like clowns.

:wah: Very witty, Clint. I'm sure it's a means to divert the publics attention away form the really important issues. Like the war, the economy...stuff like that.

And now today it's arlan specter questioning the patriots taping of their opposition and threatening to start an official inquiry...

Idiots!

Can hardly tell it's an election year can you... I'm picking 4 months in the garden pool for the time it takes before a flag controversy rears its ugly head in the senate!:wah:

I hate this. I love baseball.

It all started with letting politicians throw a ball. Now they think they own the game.

What the hey! It's all a game now.:-5 Politics and Baseball are both played, scores are kept and winning is the ultimate goal.

Clinton can't make it to first, Obama is on second and McCain is being chased by the Short Stop.
