Fingers crossed for a drought breaker, dust here atm,not to thick but the wind is starting to pick up.

It's got me thinking actually . It's kind of put paid to this climate change theory. the cyclces are still happening on a regular basis.
That's good, about the rain.
No such luck on the climate change, I fear. At the moment the symptoms of it are increased amounts of extreme weather - your drought is one example. Are the cyclones getting stronger? More frequent? That's the sort of thing I'd expect to see.

Dont just trust the weather scientists. I don't believe climate change is going to effect our generation but maybe your great great great grandkids. But that's just my opinion.
Yeah the rain is good .....now if the government could find a decent way to collect and hold it it would be much better.
Certainly hope you are right! We definitely are getting more extreme weather than we have had up here - the hottest average temperatures for a month since records began in 1750 or something, wettest and windiest ditto, all in the last ten years, so I'm fairly twitchy about the issue.

Doomsday Book. chuckle...
Shrug. I don't have children and don't expect to see too massively a great change in the next 40 years, so from a personal pov I'm not too bothered. I live in a beautiful country and don't expect it to turn into a desert overnight.
British meteorologists are very, very good (despite the constant moans about them) and I pay attention to them. They say global warming is happening and we are getting more extreme weather as one of the first symptoms. I believe them.
Some of that warming probably is part of the massive cycles you refer to. According to the IPCC it is "virtually certain" (they define that as more than 99% probable) that human activity is now contributing to the current warming, mostly through atmospheric pollutants, which hang around in the atmosphere for decades, and which the industrialisation of countries like China and India mean are going to be produced in much greater quantities over the next 20 years or so. This means the human contribution to warming is going to increase over the next few decades no matter what we do.
No doubt the "Lucky Country" will continue to be that way...
