I think it's asinine, Val.
Everybody's apologizing for stuff they shouldn't be having to. If she had offered Obama some Church's chicken, would she be offensive then too?
Too much PC!!

Oh brother.
You're right RJ. She should have let the magnolia branch snap and let the kids crack their dang heads open.
The tree was not theirs to destroy and if it was being damaged by their climbing, she was right to tell them to get down since the stupid father wasn't doing his job.

The parents should have told their carpet lizards to get out of the tree because the tree was not substantial and not only might they fall out, but they were damaging the tree.

You know, at some point in my history I'm very sure I said something
to little kids about "crack your head open like a watermelon"... that
would have gone over well in this case...
I know the tree wasn't on the lady's property and she might have
handled it better... but dang, I really care about trees and it
would be very hard for me to see someone breaking branches off
one, even if it was in someone else's yard.

:pHah! She ought to not only refuse to resign, she should announce she's voting for Hillary.... race may not have mattered to her yesterday, but i'd bet she's thinking on it today.:wah:
what a bunch of idiots! and make up your mind here chuck...i mean rj. either there is too much interference by big brother in the daily life and decisions of the american public, or it's okay for them to write citations for something as evil as yelling at a neighborhood kid..
She could have gotten out her hose and 'watered' the tree...

I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

My initial thought when I read the article was "you are kidding me"...I used to call my kids monkeys, apes, bears etc. My youngest used to climb trees like crazy and I used to call him a monkey while in the tree.....
I think that this is ridiculous, blown out of proportion to make a point....and I'm sick of people being so ready to throw PC on everything to make their case more convincing....
I don't think she should resign....I think she should clarify what she said and perhaps say that she shouldn't have been concerned about a tree, but then of course someone will complain that she is anti-environment...so she really loses any way you cut it....
This is one of the main reasons why I don't pay close attention to politics...its full of B.S. and not Barbara Striesand.....this time

Well I remember my gran always calling me cheeky monkey all the time, and I thought it was kinda cute when she called me that.
I'm with all of you, that this certainly has been blown way out of proportion, but I guess a lot of news stories, no matter how small they may seem, about people in politics, especially anyone involved in something as big as a presidential campaign, will always be magnified and looked at in ways that the same story about your average Joe wouldn't.
