St Patrick's Day in Ulster

Post by capt_buzzard »

Paddy's Day parades have come a long way since a few local girls huddled on the back of a truck down Dublin's main street O'Connell Street.

Today the Dublin parade is multi-coloured and multi-cultural and it seems that folk in Northern Ireland have caught on to the tourism benefits of the festival.

This year they want tourists to travel to Ulster and join in the celebrations in the countryside that St Patrick made his home.

I'm still wondering why the fuss is about holding St Pat's Day in Ulster? They have better marching bands than we do down here:guitarist

Florrie, I mean to point out that Northern Ireland is part of the Island of Ireland. It may be still under the British Crown and forces of occupation but that will change in the near future.
