Hello's and Greetings from Florida...

Post by Snidely Whiplash »

Hello all you growing flowers of the forum garden... :)

I wanted to make an intro after a couple weeks of posting here... :D

My name is Mark, so no one has to call me Snidely anymore... :wah:

I'm married, and 47 yrs old..

Snidely Whiplash was a TV cartoon character when I was a small boy..

After posting here for a couple of weeks, I've concluded some things about you all and your board...

This is the most hostile board I've ever posted at as a newbie... I've been admin of more than a few, and posted at more than that, but I've never ran across nasty's like a small handful here... That being said, I've also noticed some really wonderful members here through they're posts, and have rarely ran across such nice people as some I've also found here...

Some may identify with this, and this is the reason that I'm making this intro and continuing to post here, because with every up there is always a down, with every right there is always left, with every good there is always bad, and where there are truely wonderful people in a big community there are also a few really bad apples lurking...

So I've decided at least for now, to put up and ignore the bad apples, and concentrate on the really nice people here who I've met and who have supported me privately and publically...

And I wanted to say hello to anyone who wants to be friends...

Take care all...

Well Hello Mark, I don't think we've really talked much....I've seen your name on the boards though. Welcome and I am impressed with your well written intro post.:-6

I agree that with any large communities you will have all types of people. I am glad that you chose to stick around. There are wonderful people here, heck I don't even know who the "not-so-nice" people you are speaking of....since I'm one of those loving flowers of the garden, but well, that's just the way I is!!:wah::wah:

Happy Posting!:)

Yes I agree. Theyre vile ! The whole lot of them.

Why do you know just last week I announced I lost my leg in a horrible meat cleaver accident and do you know what they did ?

They started up right away calling me stump boy.

Then the jokes about getting a peg leg and an eye patch started up.

Now whenever Im spoken to the conversation is prefaced by an AAARGH or AYE MATEY WHICH WAY DOES THE WIND BLOW ?

Sicko's !

I don't think we have ever exchanged posts .... So hello and welcome Mark.

As this is a very friendly site, I was a little confused about why you would feel this way - so I just read all you posts to try and see why you feel this way. All of our garden flowers (well the ones that stay and are obviously not just here to stir the sh1t) are very friendly, caring and thoughtful. Especially the ones that you have had debates with so far, they are very caring, intelligent and protective of this site and its flowers (even the delicate flowers like me :sneaky: :)). The problem is we have had many people join this site of late, who are 'old' members coming back for a little stab, or just stirring things up. This is a very big forum, with many members who really are very close and care a lot about each other .. so as in RL we do try to protect others and are wary of new comers.

There are people who's personalities clash (as in RL too). Those people can only try to 'get along' and remain respectful. I have friends here who don't care for each other much (or have disagreed in the past) ... but they are my friends and I refuse to enter into any 'piggy in the middle' stuff (I did get caught in that not so long ago ... very upsetting and I vowed never again ... cos I thought a lot about both of the people involved :-4) ... anyway I got diverted....that happens often :D

When you enter into someones home (cos thats sort of what this is - unlike many other forums). You need to introduce yourself from the start, understand the people, understand how they tick and not assume anything. If your first post is in a debate then you are classified as someone who is here to debate (unfair maybe, but reality).

Anyway, a fresh start with a nice intro like this is good. :-6 Once again welcome to FG and happy postings.

Well not to worry.... We'll let the air out of they're tires when they're asleep... We'll put thumb tacks on theire computer chairs when they're not looking... We'll fill they're hot sauce bottle up with vinegar.... They're just adults that sit in the back corner of they're parents basements in front of an old computer all night in they're underwear, so we really should be chuckling at it all........

Ha, you have a good sense of humor... Take it easy...!!!

You're probably right in much of what you said....

I'm not sure that this is anyones home, even though some may mistakenly feel that way on some level... The purpose of this site being on the web is to attract new people, and to grow, among probably other reasons... I disagree that a new person has to watch his/her step here because this is someone elses home site, and they have to try and fit in in some way..? Having made these sites before, they should be geared towards, and designed to make a new person feel comfortable and and feel welcomed, not long time established members ridiculing new members and snickering at them in posts because they might not agree with something the new person thinks or believes.... But in fairness, I was very defensive here after only 1-2 posts, which remembering the replies perhaps I had a right to be, perhaps not...? At any rate, I'm not one to walk away from or bow to bullies, not in real life, nor online.... But hopefully I will have improved on any mistakes I initially made, and others may give me the benifit of the doubt as well, that would be nice....

But the number of really nice people like yourself, far out numbers the negativity, and that makes this a true garden, and probably a well kept garden by staff, because in this garden the flowers like most of you outnumber the weeds 100/1....

Thank you...

Hi Mark and welcome to the Garden. Sorry that I can't post a proper hello with some graphics.....can't concentrate at the airport.

I loved Pheasys reply to your post. I don't think you'll find better people than here at the garden. Just stay away from thorns and you'll enjoy yourself.
