Boy 'skinned, eaten by family'

A MOTHER is accused of partially skinning her caged son and feeding it to relatives.
Kalra Mauerova, 31, of Brno in the Czech Republic, wept in court as she admitted torturing her son Ondrej, and his ten-year-old brother, Jakub, The Sun reported.
Ms Mauerova, a member of the Grail Movement cult, caged Ondrej for months while relatives, also members of the cult, ate his raw flesh, a judge heard yesterday.
The court in Brno heard the family sexually abused the boys and made them cut themselves with knives.
The boys said they were kept in cages or handcuffed to tables and made to stand for days in their own urine.
The abuse was discovered when a man living nearby installed a TV monitor to keep watch on his newborn baby.
Instead of pictures of his newborn he was confronted by live images of Ondrej naked in the cellar — beaten and chained, The Sun reporrted.
Ms Mauerova is understood to have installed the monitor so she could watch her victims suffering from her kitchen.
Police were called, and the boy and his brother, as well as what appeared to be a 13-year-old girl, were freed.
The teenage girl later turned out to be 34 — and one of the torturers.
Ms Mauerova accused the woman — fellow cult member Barbora Skrlova — of brainwashing her.
"Terrible things have happened. I realise it and can’t understand how I could have allowed it," Ms Mauerova was reported as saying.
The court heard the abuse of Ondrej and Jakub was co-ordinated via text messages sent by a leader of the Grail Movement cult — who was known only as the "Doctor".
The trial of Ms Mauerova, another relative and their bogus sister Skrlova — who fled and was later found posing as a boy in Norway — continues.

They do seem to have somewhat lost the plot and gone down the wrong alley, don't they.
We had a trial in England a while ago in which the court jailed grown men for behaving in a similar fashion to each other. That removed the element of a lack of consent associated with children but it was still illegal, the judge decided, so they still went to jail. I'm not sure why he decided that, it seems to remove any inhibition a group might have toward including children who can't consent.
It's a somewhat sensationalized report of a case that's had a lot of prior publicity. They're not an outfit I'd want anything to do with though. I was acquainted with a chap when I lived in London whose mother was similarly inclined and he was far from being able to put it behind him, these mental scars can stay for life.

Sensationalized, yes- I was seriously looking for the words "National Enquirer" to pop up (that's a half-truth rag mag in the US.) I thought it had to be a sick joke. I know nothing about this Grail Movement and I wonder if they're screwed up because of this religion or just because.... Maybe it's just that the news has been concentrated lately but between this and the starved twins and the little boy beaten to his death, it seems to me like it's an all-out war on children. Especially when I remind myself that these are just the incidents we hear about.

Cults are nasty inward-looking groups. In this instance it seems a fair use of the word, quite often it's simple mud-flinging but this group needs restraining.

Do you know much about this Grail Cult? What do they teach? I didn't find out much from that story's link. Is there anything in their tenets that would even remotely suggest to someone that they should commit such an act?

The picture was spotted by a father keeping an eye on his baby, when his video monitor received a stray signal from a similar device being used in a neighbouring house in the quiet town of Kurim, close to the southeastern city of Brno.
When police searched the area on 10 May, sisters Klara and Katerina Mauerova allegedly refused to open a locked door in their home. When firemen broke it down, they found Klara's eight-year-old son Ondrej inside, bound with duct tape, badly dehydrated and watched over by a video camera. Investigators believed Ondrej had been maltreated for six months, and he was taken into care with his brother Jakub and a girl called Anna, whom a court had allowed Klara Mauerova to adopt in March.
What was just a case of child abuse seized the nation's attention, however, when Anna disappeared from a children's home, sparking a search for her in nearby woods and villages. Then came the bizarre revelation that "Anna" was not a 13-year-old girl, but a 34-year-old woman in disguise. Police believe "Anna" was actually Barbara Skrlova, a friend of the Mauerova sisters who, like them, belongs to a breakaway faction of an organisation called the Grail Movement.
The Grail Movement follows the teachings of Oskar Ernst Bernhardt, a German also known as Abd-ru-shin, who from 1923-38 wrote the Grail Message, which depicts man as a being whose spirit can return to its source in heaven by performing good deeds on Earth. It claims to have at least 10,000 followers worldwide, including several hundred in Britain. "We broke with the people involved in this 11 years ago, after they added to the Grail Message with their own imaginings and fantasies," said Artur Zaplukal, spokesman of the Grail Movement in the Czech Republic, where it has about 1,500 followers. "I sent them a letter telling them they were no longer part of the Grail Movement."
Amid constant twists to a case that is being called one of the strangest in Czech criminal history, police now say they believe "Anna" never really existed. Investigators think that when Klara Mauerova appealed to a court for custody of Anna, whom she said had been abandoned by her family, the daughter of a fellow cult member pretended to be the young girl. They then gave the newly created identity of Anna to Ms Skrlova - so she could be groomed for a leading role in the sect. "The community probably wanted to turn her into an idol for worship," one policeman told the national Czech newspaper Mlada Fronta Dnes.
Social workers say Ondrej and Jakub now appear to be fine, and the search continues for "Anna", who becomes more mysterious by the day. This week, President Vaclav Klaus received a nine-page letter defending Ondrej's mother, from someone claiming to be the missing Anna. Performing good deeds on Earth has no effect at all on whether a person gets into heaven or not, and a person's spirit never originated in heaven either. Getting into heaven is entirely dependent on the cleansing of sin by the redemptive power of the atoning blood of Christ and the willingness of the Saviour on the Day of Judgement to acknowledge that spirit as one of the redeemed. Nothing about good deeds - there are long bible passages saying how ineffective they are.

My thoughts exactly Spot how is this possible? The wounds alone would be disfiguring at best if. If the conditions they were kept in were as described infection would be all over his body. I can't imagine any one saying these boys are "FINE".
I'm so disgusted by this story it has made me ill. Some of us upright walking on 2 legs aren't what I consider to be humans by any stretch of the word, just beasts and monsters.

I'm sure something nasty happened to Ondrej and Jakub for a long time and that they're well out of it and thriving. Neither of them was skinned alive, neither of them were turned into meals. Worse things happen to children than happened to them. You have, it seems to me, a list of acceptable common ways to kill children and a list of unacceptable outlandish rare ways which you jump up and down about and get frenzied over. I'd love to see you get a bit frenzied over the commonplace ones, they kill far more children far more dead, often over just as long a period of suffering as these tabloid examples. And I dare you to say you don't ignore acceptable common ways to kill children - most of them involve "we didn't kill them deliberately" or "we knew deaths like that were inevitable but making them dead wasn't the reason we behaved the way we did and besides, we didn't know their names beforehand so killing them was acceptably anonymous".

You have, it seems to me, a list of acceptable common ways to kill children and a list of unacceptable outlandish rare ways which you jump up and down about and get frenzied over. I'd love to see you get a bit frenzied over the commonplace ones, they kill far more children far more dead, often over just as long a period of suffering as these tabloid examples. And I dare you to say you don't ignore acceptable common ways to kill children - most of them involve "we didn't kill them deliberately" or "we knew deaths like that were inevitable but making them dead wasn't the reason we behaved the way we did and besides, we didn't know their names beforehand so killing them was acceptably anonymous".

I'm not sure how you derived that I have acceptable ways of killing children, nor am I sure why you would say such a thing unless it's to try and rile me. BUT....if this is another way of dragging the war into the conversation again, I'm not up for that. Otherwise, remember it's me who gets verbally jumped every time I get mad when someone backs up over their kid, as if that's just a perfectly understandable accident.
