Dreams..Do You Remember Yours?

Post by Trunk Monkey »

I remember my dreams very well. The lastest dream was about a white Shih Tzu that had been lost for 4 years. The little thing had no name, so I gave it the name Blanche, but I thought Ivory would work too.(both names mean white) No one ever came to get the dog...

Just yesterday, my Hubby and I saw a sign on a Stop sign that said a white Shih Tzu was missing. I can tell you one thing, that freaked me out :wah:

Every since we built our house back in 1992, i had a reoccuring nightmare for years.

there was a snake in my bed! i would wake up every night screaming, jump out of bed and before i knew what i was doing i had run down the hall!

my momma always said snakes were a sign the devil was after you!

anyway this continued until i got Lucky, my dog, he would sleep on the foot on my bed every night and i never had the nightmare again!

now if i dream it's very seldom i even remember it! :wah:

The dreams I usually remember are the ones that have to do with work although I've been known to yell at customers in my sleep and have no clue what my husband is talking about the next morning.

not so often.

Those that I do remember are usually some convoluted story of many of my days events spun into some retarded half hour plot. You know like buying laundry detergent, from a 3 legged kangaroo that missed the deadline on some silly shipment from here to Turkmenistan.:-5 most often I am glad I don't remember them hehehehe

I do remember, sometimes it's only fragments but often whole themes. I took to keeping a diary of dreams and found that they normally fell into two types, 1/ I had an object/knowledge that some other person/group wanted and they were chasing me for it or 2/ Some person or group had something I needed and I was trying to get it.

When my dad died I had one dream of him, of having lunch on a balcony with him I could smell the freshly mown grass and the sun was shining on one side of my face when I woke up my face was warm on that side.

I didn't dream of him again until after my brother died. In that dream I got off a train ( to anyone who knows it, at Clapham junction) on a double platform.

On the other platform my dad and a young man got off the other train. The young man seemed shy because he stood in my dads shadow and I couldn't see his face. My father seemed to be as surprised as me to be meeting on the platform like that and we went into the buffet and had tea. The connecting train he was waiting for soon pulled in and as he stood by the train he asked me to come with them. I felt very sad but had to refuse, I was already late for where I was going and so we hugged and said goodbye.

At that point I seemed to really 'see' the young man for the first time, it was my brother. I hugged him and said 'don't be sad it will be ok' My dad put his arm round my brothers shoulder and said 'don't worry about us'

I watched the train pull away and felt real regret at not going with them. I woke up with tears in my eyes and a real feeling of sadness..

That was over 10 years ago I've never dreamt of either of them again.

I had a dream the other night that my truck was stolen. But you know when you come in and out of dreams, you're thinking "no, the truck is right outside" and then you go back in the dream and it's still stolen. Of course, then you wake up and look out the window and the truck is there. Yeah, I'm not crazy you think:wah: to yourself.

I live a quite stress free life rjwould. I usually only talk in my sleep when I'm physically exhausted from manual labor. And mostly, I wake my husband up because I'm laughing about whatever my dream is about, which causes him to start laughing and listening. :wah: I enjoy our morning conversations, that's for sure! :wah:

The vast majority of dreams are personal, however, they include symbolism of both personal as wells as cultural myths. Snakes, dragons, birds and such have significance due to the stories we are raise with.

It makes sense in Hope6's dream that a snake would be in the bed as she was raised in a religious setting and her mother even told her the devil, which is symbolized in the Christian Bible as a snake, was out to get her, and would if she didn't remain faithful to her religion.

I found it, you posted it before i got here this morning, that will teach me to read back won't it!

sorry! :o

that's very interesting, i never really thought about my religious upbringing being the cause of it. but you're probably right, i was raised in such a strict religious household i'm probably warped in all kinds of ways! :wah:

i know this is gonna sound like a crock ... but when i was nearing the end of my first novel i knew exactly how i wanted it to end ... yet was not clear on how the climax of the story would be reached ... i wrote and discarded many scenes until a friend suggested the following ...

write a letter to the cosmos explaining what the problem is ... put the sheet of paper beside your bed and go to sleep ...

i swear the next morning the perfect answer to my problem came to me!

dunno if i dreamt it or if my mind kinda just went on working on the problem while i was sleeping ... but it worked!

Going to sound weird but here I go...I keep dreaming of the number 333 (and yes, I played the pick 3 and nothing has ever happened with that). While I am awake and happen to look at a clock during the day, it will say 3:33 pm. I awake almost every night to go to the bathroom (and yes, you guessed it, it's 3:33 am). Sometimes I just lay there until the clock changes to 3:34 am :-3 Does anyone know what the numbers 333 might mean?

I don't remember my dreams that often. I must remember to go through the ritual of asking to remember them each night before I go to sleep.

The last one I had and remembered I was travelling round and round an island on a train. Sometimes we had to change trains to ones that went underground, these were really oppresive with no windows, and I can remember feeling really fearful about going on those trains in particular. The other trains were fine and there was a sense of confusion that we couldn't get back to our hotel, there was no major panic or fear of being lost, just a definate calm that it would all be ok unless i had to go on the other trains that is. It ended with us arriving back at the hotel and me and my old schoolfriend going for a coffee.

I've interpreted this already, was wondering what you guys will make of it.

rjwould;895336 wrote: So much of understanding your dreams of course depends on what symbols mean to you.

Here in the states, trains are not a widely used mode of transportation, but you're European and trains may reflect a more contemporary mode. So the train may or may not be just a simple form of transporting you. The fact though that it is a train leads me to believe your not in total control of where you're destination is.

Trains can also be a place where people have liaisons. However, in keeping true to my belief that we are all people in our dreams, this would suggest that perhaps you are accompanying yourself or being better acquainted with yourself, becoming your own friend and lover.

Trains run on a track that has a definite path to follow, so depending on what train transportation means in your life and how often you use it, the track may or may not have significance.

The Island could symbolize a new place for you, or an entrance point of some sort, but you're circling, if thats what you mean by "round and round". Perhaps you are not familiar enough with this place you are in. Perhaps you're feeling alone, which coincides with the train and your friend.

But then there is this other train that goes underground and is windowless. Perhaps a place your reluctant to go to or hesitant to spend much time in and need to become comfortable with slowly. Perhaps you feel trapped.

The hotel is significant because it denotes a new direction in your life and a new perspective. It also serves as home base, more or less.

In short, I would take a guess and say there are significant changes going on with you and some of it gives you pause, but you seem up to the task of your new life. You're just cautious enough but have enough strength and confidence that you can move forward deliberately, but slowly.

How did I do?
