The school my children attend states in their handbook that boys shall have no fad haircuts (long hair, mohawks) and the girls are to wear their uniforms no shorter than 2 inches above the knee, no jewelry of any kind except a wristwatch and post earrings and no makeup.

The school district sets up the rules in a handbook that all must follow. The rules in my district are very reasonable. There is a reason for each rule, and we discuss the rules in September with all the kids and parents. Parents, teachers and kids sign the form stating that we'll all abide by the rules.
One year a 6th grader wore a thirt with a happy face in the middle of the shirt. The happy face had an arrow through the center with blood splattered all over the shirt, and fluck you on the bottom.
The child was told why the shirt was innapropriate and given a choice to call home for another shirt or turn it inside out and not wear it again. He chose to turn it inside out and went on with the day.
Parent were furious and chose to sue the school district. It was an awful situation for all concerned. Parents lost the suit.
btw: exceptions are made for religiour purposes....

It's a private school they attend and although we don't have to sign a paper like Kathy Ellen's school, they would make her take it off. The rules are pretty strict. They do educate other children of faith, but you have to go by the school's rules and if you don't they will throw you out.

stupid parents. They signed the form so tough. And that is inappropriate to wear to school. My daughter's 12yr friend has a tee shirt that says something about booze. I was stunned and asked him where he got it. And his reply was "his mom bought it for him". Not surprised as she is a dirtball.

The news article says the school has a no jewelery rule.
If they knew this why did these people send their child to the school?
If their was no choice in schools why not try to negotiate an exemption before the child started the school?
I understand the significance of the bangle, but this is yet more PC bleating about rights and freedoms ect ect.
The world aint fair get used to the idea.

Exactly, why does everybody else have to follow the rules and some kid from a different religion get to wear her bracelet. Not fair. Those rules are there for a reason.
