I think Australia did a better job.
Not to take anything away from Bejing though, I too was wowed.
My favorite parts...
The Chinese printing blocks !!! (I was certain that was mechanized, I was amazed when I found out it wasnt)
The music.
The light people (green blue white)
2008 people in several perfect circles moving in unison.
The 500' LCD screen on the floor.
The screen around the top of of the stadium.
Im forgetting some but it was really really good.

Great to see you loved the opening ceremony. I am proud of that and we don't have commercial breaks during the show. Do you understand the information contained all? If don't, just ask.

Hi Anita, our commentators were scripted in the significance of each segment of the show so the displays made sense as they moved along.
And I might add that the Chinese are a beautiful people. I want to say as I observed their faces and gentle but deliberate movements I was left with the definition of sculpted in mind.

Great pic, Anita.
The scroll and tai chi were the best, and the children from each ethnic group within China. They were so cute, dressed and smiling. A very beautiful opening ceremony, China can be very proud of the wonderful welcome they gave to the world.

Oh, watch Telemundo for the soccer games. You never have to know a word of Spanish, the enthusiasm of the announcers is marvelous and you have a blast.

Oh so you did get the visual ? Thats the important thing. You dont want to listen to Bob Costas for 3 hrs anyway.

Nomad: I love it and deeply touched by the pictures that general director Zhang Yimou presented. I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to his team. It is really hard to prepare and design the ceremony. They selected some great aspects in Chinese Culture and delivered them magnificently to the world. You know, China is just a developing country with 1.3 billion people and more than 5000 years history. We are trying to make our efforts to rich the people, you know some of them were hardly fed themselves. We do know that without other countries in the world, we can't make our economy grow. I believe that the ceremony had clearly and beautifully showed our heart to the world. Like the theme song singing:
you and me from one world heart to heart,we are one family. for dreams we travel
thousands of miles, we meet in beijing come together. the joy we share, you and me
from one world forever we are one family.

I loved the opening ceremony. BBC showed it uninterrupted.....the athletes arriving was a bit tedious but loved to see the uniforms etc. The lighting of the Olympic Torch was spectacular.......WOW.....Nicole Cook (GB) has just won a GOLD for cycling.....in the pouring rain....
I've watched a lot of the rowing, gymnastics....can't wait for the rest.
Enjoy everyone....forget the politics...enjoy the sporting achievements :-6
