I've also read that she is a poor tipper.

Anyone know anything about this?

Though a non-american, I've always looked forward to a Hillary Cliton-presidency someday. With such developments however, I guess the new York senator has a great deal of image-improving/public relations work to do. I still like her though, but the issue of being the president of the world's most powerful nation is left to the American electorate to decide.

This is completely false.

Check Snopes.

The American Gold Star Mothers organization also responded with a stronger refutation of the rumor:

At the time this allegation was made Senator Clinton was not even in her office. These allegations were not initiated by the Gold Star Mothers that Senator Clinton would not see them. This is a fabricated report picked up by an individual using the Gold Star Mothers as an instrument to discredit Senator Clinton.

Four Gold Star Mothers and a Vietnam veteran made an appointment with Senator Clinton at a later date and were very well received. Photographs were made with Senator Clinton and she presented each one with a signed proclamation paying tribute to the American Gold Star Mothers.

We regret any embarrassment this may have caused Senator Clinton and her staff and would like to move beyond this issue and continue the positive volunteer work which we willingly and graciously provide for the veterans and their families and support of other Gold Star Mothers. American Gold Star Mothers are a strong group of women who have sacrificed sons or daughters in conflicts to preserve the freedom that we enjoy. We do not need mischievous gossip and unfounded lies to promote our organization. Please help stop it now.

Easy wrote: Here is where it becomes interesting. The mortgage payments hover at about $10,000 per month. BUT an extra residency had to be built within the acreage in order to house the Secret Service agents. The Clinton's now charge the Secret Service $10,000 monthly rent for the use of said Secret Service residence and that rent is just about equal to their mortgage payment. Meaning that we, the tax payers, are paying the Clinton's mortgage, their transportation, their safety and security, their 12 man staff, and it's all perfectly legal.

Snope's response to this fabrication:

As explained on our Landlord of Misrule page, this is hogwash. While it is a standard arrangement that the Secret Service provide payment to homeowners for space used by the agency in such situations, the amount provided is based on a government formula, not a charge set by the homeowner. (In the Clintons' case, this amount is $1,100.) Unlike other previous First Families, the Clintons have not accepted any money from the Secret Service, making this rumor not only baseless but particularly mean-spirited in that it chides the Clintons for something that they're not doing, but directs no criticism at those who are.

If you are gonna bash Hillary, please do it based on truth and for something she deserves to be critiqued for. No one deserves to be hated for lies.

Thanks for the comforting revelations Beth. i am relieved by those nice write-ups that debunk those lies against my favorite female American politician. That's why I love the Garden, with its dynamic minds that keep track of latest developments in almost every aspect of human endeavor. Nice work Beth.

I'm not a Clinton fan, (either one of them) but we can't have flat-out lies being spread around.

I was hoping someone would come along and get the facts. Good job Beth! Thanks!

What is so Great about Hill Clinton? :yh_questnI'm sorry, but your flag is Brazillian. Are you an American living over there?

Personally I think Hillary is brilliant, astute, and a very capable woman. Right now, I am impressed with her track record in New York over children's social programs and some family services.

i'm not clear what difference that makes. her questions are legitimate, regardless of who/what/where is asking.

she is a very intelligent and capable woman. her heart is simply in the wrong place in my opinion. i would not want someone with her credentials running the country. again, just my opinion.

Yay! I'm with Beth on this one! (Whew! That makes up for that "uniform" flap!) You go Beth! Personally, I'd think it would be off the "cool scale" to have a woman president. I used to train female fighter pilts and I have a huge respect for women. They did their homework, (unlike the guys who were usually at the Officer's club) and they had excellent reflexes!

I like Hillary. If she becomes president it would be a nice change from what is going on now. Nothing in particular just everything that is going on in the US. More people oriented policies would be nice.

I am so sick and tired of these false stories around about everybody from Bush to Clinton.

If I want to not support a politition i want to do it based on honest reports about that pol.

There has got to be a way to hold rumor mongers responcible.

Kenslof the problem with your comment, in my opinion, is that in order for a person to get elected they have to have the same support system in place that the persons before them had. I think that means you get a very limited number of personality types in office be they female or male.

This is a given. Groundswells are not the norm. It is the groundswells that happen within the political structures or hierarchies that make the party viable to winning the peoples' confidence..

Man, are you right there. Much has been said about the low turnout in American eletions. In my area if you ask someone if they voted more times than not they will answrer why vote their all alike.

In this nation we need someone who can galvanize these folks.

Related to this line have you notice that most of the recent people elected to the Presidency were from outside the beltway?

Bush held no Federal office before the election neither did Clinton . Reagan or Carter other than Bush the first look how far back you have to go to find a Pres. elected who has served in the Federal Gov.

It is almost as though we are ,without knowing it, tryng to find an alternative to the folks in DC.

Ignoring of course the political difference of these guys.

I thought you were a Merkin, you sounded too much like one, but the flag puzzled me. Thanks for the clarification.

I have a feeling that Hillary and Bill have an understanding.
