gimme some space ... man ...

Post by jones jones »

Got to thinking about where I come from and where I’m going .... Often do that when I’m melancholy ... or sad ... or depressed ... or whatever ...

I know that many people ... Christians ... as is their right ... live by the Bible ... there is a small church near my home which on any given Sunday never ever has more than ten cars parked out front ... goes by the name "The Bible Way Believers" ... good for them ... whatever floats your boat I say ...

Myself Jj ... well I tend to look at the sky and seek spacemen ... not heaven ... I look up at the night sky and ask: "the shining stars and planets in the universe are surely not there just for us to look at?"

Christians have for two thousand years been taught that earth was the centre of creation and earthlings the only inhabitants of the universe ...

Of course this is debatable ... modern astronomers now know for a fact that earth is an inferior planet revolving around a dwarf sun near the edge of the milky way ... only one of countless galaxies ...

Devout Christians argue that life on other planets is impossible as then a Christ would have to be crucified on every one of them ... this despite Pope Pius Xll declaring that on other worlds the inhabitants may well live in a state of grace without the need for redemption ...

The ancients in describing spaceships did so in a way they knew best ... likening them to birds and animals such as a flying horse in the way many centuries later Red Indians described a railway-engine as an iron horse ...

just love how Christians are all lumped into believing one thing. Maybe you should branch out and actually talk/listen to a Christian before assuming what they believe and don't believe.

Hi ya Jj. I am a Christian. Actually people believed in God way before Christ. God is the center of all the universes. The way I see it is if God could create our world and all that is in it, that He being the center of all things, could very well have created life on other planets. He is the all powerful. I see it as being dense of mind to think that we are the only creatures in an endless space.
