Kathy Ellen, aren't you sweet. :-6 I am always happy to talk bluegrass with anyone interested. I love the stuff. I was grinning when I read your thread! I thought "A-ha! Another convert! WOO!" :wah:

I was disappointed yesterday that I couldn't find some videos of some songs I really like that I wanted for you to hear. I am still looking for them though.

You know who else you might like to talk to? Dew! "DeweyOneMoThyme." He loves bluegrass probably more than me and has spent time with the musicians and all and he knows of more and different bands than I do.

Kathy Ellen, Youtube has everything on the planet except the songs I want for you to hear. :wah:

May I suggest you try this album?

O Sister! The Women's Bluegrass Collection

This is probably my second all-time favorite bluegrass album.

And if you care at all for religious music, you might try this one:

Angels Are Singing- Women's Bluegrass Gospel

I'm not big on gospel music but I wore this album out. Bluegrass and folk gospel are the only types of religious music I will listen to.

Try Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, brilliant.

I expect you could buy the "Appalachian Stomp" Cd on ebay quite cheap, nice one to start you off, quite a mix on that one.

Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs of course, Stanley Brothers, Kentucky Colonels and not forgetting Eric Weissberg & Steve Mandell amongst others.

Hi Barman! Good recommendations- some I haven't tried myself!

I have bought quite a few on ebay, all at a great price.

I get a few strange looks when i have Bluegrass music on in the car, roof down, just cruising with a smile on my face. Some people just don't get it.:-3

I was walking through Dixons electrical store a few months back when my mobile rang, I have "Dueling Banjos" as a ring tone. A women came up to me and just said "That ain't right, it just ain't right":-2 I just laughed, i think she must have thought it was written just for the film Deliverance.:wah:

Haha! That's funny. I can just picture that. :) My dad wants me to change my ringtone for him on my phone so when he calls me, "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" will play.:D

You must have quite a collection too Terri, we must compare notes soon.

I still pick my banjo when i can (must do it when no one else is in the house cos its so blinkin loud) but it seems i am the only one within miles interested in bluegrass mores the pity.

Ahhhhh Sobe....you play the banjo....I love the banjo. I was telling Red that I just love the harmony between the banjo, guitar and fiddle.

My brother has a band called the Tipsy Rovers that just play for our family.

I had a big, big party about 2 years ago and invited about 70 people. It was a beautiful day at the beach and all the neighbors came over also.....I know enough to invite all:D

The Tipsy Rovers , who are also all of our rellys and friends, played Bluegrass, Irish, folk...everything......We had banjos, all sorts of guitars, fiddles, and squeeze boxes. And then all of our friends who sing and play insturments got up to perform.Of course I sang all of my lovely Donegal songs. Even the local police came to join us.

A great night was had by all. Wish you could have been there...I was fantastic.
