I am part of an animal rights organisation. I have to point out that i do not condone bombing laboratorie's etc and this kind of thing gives all of us, who are trying to do the right thing, a bad name.
In any organization, you have extremists and those who feel any case is the right to wage war.
As a member, i would say that any of us would have probably have done the same thing at the time. There are other methods to distracting a bear but at the time, if your life is in danger, adrenolin kicks in and you don't think rationally.
I hate this kind of thing as it gives the one's like myself, who protest peacefully and lobby parliment for change for animals rights, a very bad name.
Shame on them.

That's the usual reaction.
In other recent news, regarding SHAC (Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty):
But why is this fringe terrorist group so dangerous? Precisely because it tries not to be fringe. In other words, we wish we could say that SHAC is giving animal rights organizations a bad name, but the reality is that SHAC has friends in the mainstream. Its goals are the same as those of the seemingly benign bunny huggers we all love to pity. In some cases, they're one and the same.
source
The ideology is the same just, perhaps, different on how far they are willing to go.
SHAC believes the animals harmed in research to cure breast cancer, AIDS and Parkinsons are more important than the people dying of those diseases. They believe that the people capable of harming animals, no matter the reason, ought to be punished. It's a simple mind set that loses sight of reason.

Every organisation has it's radicals that will even infiltrate the mainstream. The problem is to expose them and oust them.
It greatly harms our work when they behave so mindlessly.
The main goal of animal rights is that the animals do not suffer during experentation.
It is unfortunate that animals do have to be used in testing. Cosmetic testing for example is nothing but cruelty in the name of vanity. We urge all women to check the labels of cosmetics to ensure they are animal test free.
Medicine is another matter. We may not like it, but it has to be done. All we want, is that the animal is given living conditions the same as regulated in zoo's etc and do not endure pain or misery.
It's all very well to say that people like myself put animals before people. We don't in the main, but anyone who puts the name of research before an animals welfare will unfortunately be targeted by animal rights. If they have no regard for the animal's welfare while it is helping them to find cures, then frankly, we have no regard for them. (I mean by that, exposing them, shaming them and ultimately, shutting them down).

I wonder if any of these so-called humans that are sending the emails and making the phone calls would just stand there if a bear was attacking them. I'd like to find out. :sneaky:

good lord, even if the dogs were chasing the bear and the bear came towards this man, who wouldn't defend themselves?
c'mon!
BUT, the two cubs could have been saved!:-5

I said in the beginning that any one of us would not have done the same and this is fanatisists of Animal rights Organisations at work, giving us all a bad name.
The cubs are a different matter. There was un-justifiable reason for that. Even a dumb ass could see thay were babie's.
That's revenge not survival.
Maybe the guy is getting what he deserves after all??
