Palin is the 45th president in 2012

Post by Oscar Namechange »

I read a piece in our press a few days ago before the election. They predicted that should McCain lose, Sarah Palin would not only run but also be voted in as America's 45th and 1st woman President.

I thought this was a mere gossip piece but now it looks as if it may become a reality.

Palin refuses to deny 2012 presidential run as she vows to reach out to Obama | Mail Online

What do you think???

Thats not her ticket, her glory has faded and her reputation is tarnished.

Palin is getting trashed in almost all circles.

Her ticket might come in the form of replacing convicted felon Senator Ted Stevens (Alaska)

Remarkably he was re-elected post conviction. If his appeals are unsuccesful he will be strongly urged to resign and if he doesnt hell be coerced by the party to do so.

This is where Palin comes in, as governor of Alaska its her charge to replace the vacancy.

She cant appoint herself but she can resign and as her LT. Governor steps into her place he can appoint her to the Senate.

I'm married to a registered Master Plumber who does drink a 6 pack. I for one was highly insulted by McCain's use of this unlicensed hack running around the country claiming he doesn't need a license to practice plumbing. Really? And as for Sarah, I did read that she had her aides put thousands of dollars on their own credit cards to pay for clothes. Dummies.

He wasn't thinking. From what I've read & seen on tv, they were hardly talking to each other by the end. I think he became embarrassed eventually over the pick after a month or so. She was a loose cannon in my book and generally just an ignorant woman.

I think its possible that Palin could run in 2012, though that depends on what direction the Republican Party chooses to take, if they go to the right and attempt to become the permanent party of Evangelical Christians then certainly Palin would be the natural choice. If they choose to return to the Centre Right and become a genuinely conservative party again, and not an ideologically radical one, then she will not be the candidate, but just someone rolled out occasionally to fire up the more right wing religious people.

I would suggest that if they actually want to win anything in the future, they need to appeal to as broad a consituency as possible, and drop some of the more extreme ideological stuff, at least thats the way it seems to me.

It will take some time for the Republicans to absorb the lessons of their recent defeats and come up with a strategy to recover their losses from the Democrats. So until thats happens its hard to know who is going to emergy as the new voice of the Republicans.

I would also say that for their own sake, they might want someone who has a better grasp of the big ideas, and the intellectual ability to rejuvenate the party and the conservative philosophy in America, I don't think Sarah Palin is that person, though she has some useful qualities.

They need some new fresh blood. And Sarah is just not that bright in my book. A more moderate repub would do the trick. Just really tired of the right wing crap.

How can you say that about Palin and then support Obama??

He has no more experience of 'the big idea's' than she has. What's frightening is that we will have to learn by Obama's mistakes.

Oscar, Obama writes quite serious books about his experiences and how that relates to the ideas he has for the United States and its politics, Palin shoots moose and makes a point of telling everyone about it, thats the difference.

She may be a lot of things, but she is no great thinker, even by ordinary standards she does not appear to be very bright; or at least not the most educated person alive. I would think all but the most blinkered would realize that.

Obama is an untested President, but he is certainly an intellegent man, perhaps even an intellectual one (which is very unusual for US President, but it happens occasionally). Nixon was also a very smart guy actually, though not as professorial as Obama can appear on occasion, of Nixon was famously somewhat flawed as well, like many highly intelligent leaders, he was a fascinating character.

Yeah right, the two autobiography's that do not match anything that he has said of late or is saying now. I could quote extracts from his books that blatently contradict what he has proposed.

One example... Who's the mysterious white girlfriend he talked of in his book that no researcher has been able to find?

If he writes about his experiences, that includes 'Ayers' and Rev Wright now does it?? Seeing that now he denies any knowledge of ACORN, Ayers past history and Rev Wright's anti-American rants.

Idea's and practice are two very different things. We, unfortunately, have to be the lab rats for his 'idea's'.

How's he going to deal with Russia??? Same as Kennedy... he'll back down.

The only one who will have the balls to stand up to them is Gordon Brown.

That goes back to what i said on a thread weeks ago. Gordon Brown will end up doing the negotiating for Obama because he's too weak.

I was comparing the writing of a book, any book, with Moose hunting, I think you will agree they involve people with slightly different outlooks.

I await Sarah Palins own book on her life and her ideas with great anticipation, I wonder what it will be called?
