My kitty, Won Ton, has been ill for several days. Oh my, poor little cat, couldn't eat his food, sick to his tummy, oh my goodness.
So, Wednesday, I taught all day, took husband to doctor, came home and cooked his dinner, called the vet, and took the cat in before I went to my second job of the day. Oh my, Mr. Vet shook his head, worried about his swollen tummy, "Is he the kind who eats things he shouldn't?"
Well of course critters do that stuff! So they popped him into the X-ray machine, took the blood tests, and the doctor came in shaking his head.
"Nothing is there on the X-ray. My diagnosis is that he is stressed, he is a very sensitive cat. He needs more love and attention."
My mouth dropped open, cat looks innocently at me, and I said he must need some prozac or something, and momma walks out with a $350 vet bill!
Give me something for a good nights sleep!:wah:

MOTTO TO LIVE BY:
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.
WOO HOO!!, what a ride!!!"

People only think that dogs need attention, cats need it MORE, because they don't often come and get it..where dogs will.
What I do each day with all 4 is have our special times, where I pay attention to them each, we will go up to one if sleeping to long, pat him, brush him for a long time, he then becomes happy and is purring.... I also play everyday with each, whether its a piece of foil tied on a string, dragging it along the floor so the cat become active in chasing it, and throw their toys to them, hence becomes more happier as us humans do, just to play gives everyone a boost.....instead of sleeping all day, some cats go into depressions if not given enough attention to.
It is time consuming, but its kinda like having children, they need and strive for attention, one of ours became depressed and would sleep all day, with my husband who sleeps during the day, (works nights), so I thought, this cat is sleeping to much, during the day with him and at night with me, so I no longer allow the cat to sleep with him, now he is in the front room where he can look out the bay window at the birds, he play with the other cats, snuggles with them and I am there with him playing or patting him.....he now is no longer depressed, he is much happier, plays more and eats more.
I also clean out their litter box's several time a day and always have fresh cold water and food down at all times.
I know your working, but your cat is home by himself all day wondering IF and when you will be home....so give him tons of attenton every night, whether your just sitting down patting him, brushing him or playing with his toys with him, with fresh food and often, as they eat very little when we are not there, and you will soon see a big change in him.
** also during the day, open all the drapes/blinds to let tons of light in, as like us, dark is depressing, plus he can then look out the windows.

Thank you Odie, that is good advice. I think Won Ton gets upset because I'm home all summer, and then when school starts I go back to work, the nurse is here, the household is different. He waits for me on the stairs everyday, and wants to know I have returned. Even with a full house, he misses me when I am gone. I do the best I can, but some days I come in and out, going to other jobs. Kitty is sad then, and this time he became sick. He is doing better this weekend, since he has alot of attention from me because I have been home. And had a nice walk yesterday in the fall breeze.

Did he have a recommendation for how you should cope with the sudden stress of being out $350 you hadn't budgeted for?

meeting you at the door tells your everything...he is so glad to see you, even if am in rush when I come home, I always bend down and pat them for a minute, so he knows, I am happy to see him also, weekends are better cause your home, so remember that time after work..especially since you have been home all summer....when you go out, your cat honestly thinks, 'IS she coming home?'
not, 'when will she be home'.
we had gone camping, the second day one of ours wasn' t eating nor drinking..if cats do not drink for 24 hours, they become dehyrated and can die very quickly.......we rushed home and took her to the vet, she put an IV pack in her neck......vet said she was not eating or drinking because I was no longer there.
Won Ton is such a cute and different name, so cool!
