:-5:-5Last year, in my home area, 7 poppy tins were placed in Upper schools. of those, 4 were stolen... The other 3 collected a massive 37 pence.
Now i read this in today's Daily Mail. Sadly, this school is near my home town.
The children are not at fault here. It is the same reason children vandalise war memorials. They have no sense of history and authoritie's leave the education of what our great men and women did in the wars to their equally un-educated parents.
Outrage as school fails to observe poppy day silence - because it would disrupt classes | Mail Online

What for 10 minutes they can't interrupt classes. My children's school everyone had to go to mass and all those kids knew what it meant.

Not 10 minutes, Ducks. A mere 2 minutes is all that is required. I can understand if a person is performing a life-saving operation, putting out a fire, or perhaps just working on a mechanical assembly line, etc. But this is giving the children the wrong message. it's like say, "These men laid down their lives for us, but it's not that important". Perhaps the headteacher does not understand the reason for this silence shared across the country (across the world even by Brits who are abroad).

2 min/10 min. whats the difference? Take a little time on that day and thank the men & women who went to war. In my children's school they go to mass to remember.

As i am close to this area, then maybe the head moved the remberence to a time that most suited the Muslim percentage of pupils.?????
As i live near this school, i will have great pleasure in visiting the school at my earliest opportunity and if possible, telling the ******** Head, what the Royal British Legion mebers think of him.
I am also protesting to the Education Dept.
What hope have the kids got of realising this is their heritage if people like this head can make the choices for them?
It un-does all the good work put in by the RBL in including young children in their parades on Rememberence Sundays.

When the hell did a cookery lesson become more important than what the likes of my father and Grand-father did during the wars???
I'm sure my Grandfather who was blown up in a trench on the Somme at the age of 29 would be really pleased that cakes were not ruined. :-5
