Tialand Declares Independence

Read in the news paper the other day saying that Tialand is threatening to declare independence from the China Government, and China answered back to Tialand that if you declare independance then prepare for war...

sounds like it could get nasty over on Asia, could end up like another Vienam?

Do you mean Thailand or Taiwan?

Thailand is an independent country and always has been. It has the distinction of never being colonised by a wastern nation.

Nothing new ------TAIWAN and mainland China have been going at it since 1949--------many crisis situations, but no war.

Spooky that we arm these guys to fight for the financial interests of Wall Street and Bush but they have absolutely no concept of the rest of the world, even when they've been abroad! Just like our Commander in Chief. I'm glad KDB is back home safe but was he fighting for my country? Or was he just fighting Iraqis defending their homeland against a superpower?

Methinks China could squish little Taiwan like a wounded roach. The U.S. could not defeat the Chinese and they know it. We only attack 3rd worlders! Let Taiwan defend herself.

You are right. China could squish Taiwan. The U.S. would never get into a land war in China due to the size of the country and the overwhelming manpower, but, China has no real Navy and it's Air Force at this point can't match the U.S. It would be a missile contest if it came to blows.

I agree but also think neither would use a nuke or other heavy weapon against the other because these are designed to kill masses of civilians. Not the way war is done these days. Winning over the Chinese people would be the only way the US could weaken China, and they are a proud and powerful people that already know the corrupted character of our current regime.

Because I'm not a Republican? That hurts. There should be a warning that users of this board must be patriotic and keep opinions in line with everyone elses. I'm not ashamed to be a leftist.
