They obviously go to ForumGarden Heaven, they're wearing wings and playing harps and eating Ambrosia and drinking whatever people drink in ForumGarden Heaven and wondering why you're not there yet.

Some people stick around for a long time though Jimbo (I am one of those at this stage having been here over three years).

I think your FG membership tends to go through different cycles or stages, most of the older hands just stick to the topics and threads that they like; and don't seem to go for the more social new-comery threads, as thats kind of a stage when you are first here having fun and getting aquainted with everyone.

Though perhaps that just my own experience. It tends to be cyclical as well, in that you might be all chatty for a couple of months, then you go arcading, then you get all chatty again, then you go mental and talk philosophy to coberst for weeks.

Know what I mean?

I don't know why anyone would leave this board, unless they got banned. There seems to be something here for everyone, unlike the board I came here from.

My old board used to be much like this. People started threads on many topics and had a good time until a small handful decided they wanted a political debate board, or else. After several years of bitter fighting, they got their wish. That small handful of posters do most of the posting. Any non-political threads die quickly. Few others even try responding now..

I tend to get forum fatigue now and again and it makes me just want to come and read but not chat much or post, maybe play in the casino or arcade. When I feel like that its not just on FG its all forums...

I think forums are like shoes, some are so comfy you can wear them all day and some you just wear a short while or they make your feet ache.

As for the peeps that leave, I have no idea but most that have left here do return so maybe its more to do with them and whats going on in their RL than the forum.

As a side note, things that happen on Forums are not always how you perceive them:D

The mystery has been revealed,Jimbo. Coberst is actually a code-name for all the members who have left us. All the great minds have become one. That is why members hesitate to post on coberst's threads. Too intimidating. Too thought-provoking.

From now on, make a point to respond to coberst. The threads posted by coberst are just a way members who have left us reach out.

Let us have a moment of silence in respect for coberst.

And we do hope coberst keeps returning to our humble garden.;)

Some get bored, no longer have the time, not the forum they thought when they joined, things change in their lives, some also have internet problems on a regular basis who are still on dial-up, some have been insulted, soooooooo many reasons.

the five I now belong to are awesome, but maybe one day I won't be here, no one really never knows.

I just kow that I've deleted my FG account twice.....

...I deleted my 1st acoount because I was here tooooo much and couldn't focus on my job.

..I deleted by 2nd account because I had .....angry words with someone...

And now that I'm back again as a full time member I realize that when I was not a part of FG that I was so unhappy and missed everyone sooooo much. I've made such wonderful friends here.

As Chonsie says, When I come into FG....it's like opening my door and finding all of my friends here just waiting to say hello...

And that's exactly how I feel...I just love everyone here....and am so sad that members have left without saying good-by or leaving an addy.

POOF...they're gone...and believe me...I've cried a few time when some members have left... because I'll never see them again...I know these members are at other sites, but why should I try to contact them? They left without saying good by so apparently they were unhappy here at FG and don't care about me. I just know that I really miss them, and that's my problem.

I've been here for 3 years and have never 'gone away'. I've always been a regular visitor but haven't participated so much in the recent past. I'm guessing that most of my posts were notched up in the fisrt 18 months.......

So what's happened in those 3 years ????

My own circumstances changed for a while

Other members circumstances have changed

People have fallen out and left

People have left to follow their friends - that have fallen out and left :-3

People have explored other forums and liked them

I know of at least one 'mature' member who struggled paying for their Internet connection.

FG's like any club I guess....there are lifelong members and those that come and go...that's life Jimbo.

One thing I must say is that the FG 'meet up' with Minx, Raven, Voodoo, Chris, OM, Weeder, Betty, Theia, Arnold, Rapunzel, Spot and everyone else was one of the most special moments of my life . May 6th 2006 :-6
