Bad? They should get medals. They're the suffragettes of modern times.

One was interviewed on Radio 4 this morning by phone from the middle of the protest. Lily Kember if I remember right. It's a question of whether the taxes of the poor should be used to subsidize flying the rich to their villas in Tuscany, that's how she put it. This year's Swampy, that's who she is.

Plane Stupid said aviation was the fastest growing source of emissions and already contributed to at least 13% of the UK's carbon budget.

I didn't hear her say save the planet once, Jimbo.

Fixing airport congestion without adding more runways or flights is simple. Permanently halve the current number of flights, just impose a fixed limit on the number that can be made, and make ticket price float according to demand for the flights available. The more that people want to get to Tuscany for the week, the more they'll have to pay to get there. It solves everyone's complaints.

God I met the last protestors on a greenie site.

If you happen to be passing by watch out for the urine filled balloons.

those words have been said before.

Went passed there at about 10.30 this morning on my way back to Sussex from my brothers who lives 5 mins from the airport.

Not a urine filled balloon in sight fuzzy, just a few media outside the fence and a few police inside.

Won't comment on the 'save the planet issues', but I have to say that if a 2nd runway is approved, a lot of wonderful countryside will disappear and the locals are also faced with the building of 'eco'towns' and other such schemes in this area.
