Grocery Shopping.
How often do you go shopping for food? We go once a week. My brother in law goes once every 3 months unless they need a small item then they just run to the store.. I know people that go once a month or every 2 weeks.. so what's your grocery shopping routine? Do you just go to one store or where ever the sales are?

I make a shopping list and go grocery shopping on Saturday. Once a week is all I can stand. :wah:

I do all the grocery shopping and go several times weekly despite there being just the two of us in the household. The reason I go often is to get the fresher fruits and vegetables.

I hate grocery shopping. When we go we fill up on all kinds of stuff and don't go again until everything is used up...plus this way we're not wasting anything.

I usually go once a week....but seems we always need something now and then...the grocery store is within 5 miles, so its convenient to go to get a few things if needed.
My son will go for me a lot...I've even taught him to use the coupons!!
I saved $124.00 in coupons last week at the grocery store!!:yh_dance

Wow, that was great with the coupons!

I go every two weeks for major grocery shopping. I have to go to a neighboring town to shop at a larger supermarket with more choice and cheaper prices. Then if we need something in between trips, I'll run up to our little grocery store.
I try to plan out meals for a 2 week period, clip coupons accordingly and then go shopping.

I do the shopping in our house. My wife suffers from an affliction called 'selective shopping' which exempts her from standing at a checkout queue in a supermarket.
I used to shop twice a week until i found that the more we had in, the more she threw away or gave to the dogs and local foxes. I became suspicious due to the orderly queue of foxes outside my door every night and the fact that they could no longer walk, only waddle.
I also spend hours trying to find food that my wife will enjoy only to arrive home and be told 'I don't like them'.
To avoid this, i decided that i would shop daily only to have my wife complain 'there's nothing i fancy' to pick at.
I then started to ask her to make me a list, only to be told 'I can't think of anything'.
Finally, i gave up and i now shop four times a week but do not buy too large an amount so to save over feeding the entire local wildlife. If she doesn't like what i've bought, she will very quickly tell me 'what i should have bought', then i can return in a day or two.

Though I may know at the beginning of a week what days hubby and/or I will be home to eat, things can change on a whim or an unexpected change in meeting days/times. And because it is less of a hardship bringing home groceries to lug up the stairs for fewer days, I am now shopping for only 3-4 days at a time.
I also often get a yen for something different to eat than what I've got at home to cook and sometimes I just don't feel like cooking that night.
This is not to say that if I don't feel like going out or going grocery shopping I can't create a wonderful meal from what is at home in the freezer, fridge or cupboards. On top of that, we have two fine grocery stores within 5 minutes of our home and numerous others nearby so shopping can be easily done on the way back from places.
I prefer to shop for fewer days now. When I was working and the girls were still at home, shopping was a major deal. Everyone had their own food preferences and likes and dislikes. Now, if one of us wants something the other one does not eat, it isn't that hard to prepare it along with something else for the other person.

Every other week...yesterday I hit the local cheap place for all my junk food needs. Cereal, snacks, etc. Still have to do my bigger shopping sometime this week.
