First ForumGarden Online Bank

Post by Bank »

The First ForumGarden Online Bank is open for business. Sometime in the new year there will be additional banking facilities on the site, this is a prototype to see what might happen.

There is no fine print, the rules are simple:All ForumGarden users are entitled to a Bank account. Your account will be opened immediately on receipt of your first deposit to Bank. An immediate credit limit of 100 casino dollars will be set on all new accounts and recalculated automatically as your account history builds up.

Until further notice your account is single-currency and handles only Casino Dollars. It is vital that you ask if you don't know what a casino dollar is but clicking the "Casino" link in your page header gives a good introduction.

A statement of account showing your transaction list, current balance, interest payments and current credit limit will be sent by Private Message whenever you ask Bank for one.

You may deposit Casino Dollars with Bank by clicking "Transfer cash to another player" at the bottom of the "Casino" page and typing the username Bank in the "Donate to" textbox.

You may request withdrawal of funds up to the available credit limit by a Private Message to Bank. Funds will be transfered within one day.

Interest will be paid at the First ForumGarden Online Bank Base Rate plus the Paid Interest Margin and charged at the First ForumGarden Online Bank Base Rate plus the Charged Interest Margin.

The First ForumGarden Online Bank Base Rate is currently ten percent (10%) per year.

The First ForumGarden Online Bank Paid Interest Margin is currently ten percent (10%) per year.

The First ForumGarden Online Bank Charged Interest Margin is currently twenty percent (20%) per year.

Rate and Margin Change Register

Base 10%, Paid 10%, Charged 20% : 16th December 2008

If you'd like to establish a recognized exchange rate between casino dollars and US Treasury dollars then that can be arranged. Until then, not having a network of casino dollar ATMs, there would be few opportunities to use a First ForumGarden Online Bank ATM card.

If anyone would like to draft First ForumGarden Online Bank Dollar Bills we'll get some printed, how's that? Just don't put George Washington anywhere on it.

It's 20% per year compounded daily. That's some small daily percentage of the previous day's total, added each day, which when you add it for 365 days gives you a 20% increase on your initial capital.

How you get it is shown in example B on Wikipedia's Compound Interest page.

The actual monthly interest payments, it you look at them once a month, are

1,369.10

1,390.47

1,274.55

1,432.06

1,407.14

1,476.37

1,450.67

1,522.04

1,545.79

1,518.89

1,593.62

1,565.89

I'd presume that the Bank uses a very secure login password, yes? :p

Did you notice the bank software on that other forum? Perhaps we could get something like that here in The Garden, assuming business picks up such that it's necessary?

The addition of a more sophisticated and presumably less secure bank is in progress. Meanwhile we're making do.

Summary of business activity 17 December 2008

Accounts open: 5

Deposits: 37835

Loans: 0

The First ForumGarden Online Bank would be delighted to take more deposits into more new accounts if only to test the system a bit. Small deposits are equally as welcome as large ones.

We note that no applications have yet been made for overdraft facilities. To make such applications it is required that the applicant has an account already opened, and that the system has allocated a sufficiently high credit limit to the account.

Come on, let's see if we can reach 150,000 casino dollars over the weekend, that's a good first target.

All the deposits earn interest. What have you to lose?
