I'll have you know that under the present labour Government, 35,000 more nursing staff have been recruited to the NHS. Under this government, 53% less wards have been closed than under all Conservative governments. Under this government, waiting policy has changed from 'First come first served' to 'First priority'. Under this government the investment into the NHS is standing at millions and rising. Under this government, investment into home and care facilities for the elderly means more beds are available in our hospitals.Under this government, you have never had it so good.

Me??? Spin??? Never!!!

Since my NHS is ruled by the Welsh Assembly we get free prescriptions and also I have never had one problem with the service I have ever required. Admittedly I have only ever been in hospital to give birth but was given top class treatment both times. My eldest has Excema and youngest has Asthma both were severe and are now well under control thanks to the asthma and excema nurses we see monthly.

As alot of you know, I work for the NHS for the screening services. We provide cervical, breast, newborn hearing and recently Bowel screening which is all provided via a comprehensive and extremely thorough programme of which im proud to be part of. We get flak daily off people complaining because we have offered them one of these services, would our friends in America be so quick to turn it down?

Is the US anti an NHS for America or have they just not been offered such a service?

Speaking as a nurse working in a med surge unit. Millions of dollars are spent a year in the states treating illegal americans at tax payers expense while the lower income and middle class have a much harder time getting and receiving medical care. its bloody rediculous.

Like everybody else in the states i am curious as to what changes will be made to the nations health care under Obama's term. I know this is one of Hilary Clintons projects from her husbands presidency yet she got nowhere.

In the last few months Medicare and Medicaid has gotten really strict on what they will and will not pay. This is affecting the millions of elderly baby boomers that worked their whole lives and now receive less than stellar care financially. its a shame to see happen.:-5

The turn around to this is, we are seeing alot more drug and alchohol problems due to the stress and unemployment numbers due to the economy. i have seen two unsuccessful suicides in two weeks alone.

A lot of the problem isn't the lack of health insurance that people don't have, it is from lazyness. There are so many state and federal programs available to people that cannot afford health insurance, but they are just to lazy to sign up for it. Most of the time it's on a sliding scale, in other words, you pay premiums according to your income level. For example, I am on disability and hubby is disabled and has applied for disability. Our income is so low that we pay nothing for health insurance. If he gets approved for disability it will probably put us in the next tier and we'll have to pay a small premium with a small deductible. The insurance is there, people just need to take the time to apply for it, which I did. It's an easy thing to do, it's just time consuming filing all the paperwork.

They can't be bothered by it, yet are the first ones to complain about it. We have a program in the states that will cover ALL kids, yet the parents are too lazy to apply for it. The forms aren't difficult, just a little time consuming.

Here are a ton of facts from 2007 regarding who in the US doesn't have coverage for their health care and why they don't.

From the link I posted, I was surprised to learn that the large majority of the uninsured (80 percent) are native or naturalized citizens. Isn't that an interesting fact?
