If you had to spend 3 days with a FG ner

Post by Oscar Namechange »

I have had no choice but to be holed up inside for three days with a Forum Gardener, Mr O. He's my husband so that's cheating.

We have had the builders in drinking my tea, singing loudly and pharting. I can't complain as they have done a very good job.

As Mr O was ill, this meant i could not leave the house at all for three days and it occurred to me:

If you were shut in a house for three days witha FG.... who would you choose and why.

You can't cheat by saying all of them as you can only give one name.

Come on......... be honest..... let's find out stuff? :yh_rotfl

Wow Oscar this took a little thinking, three days can prove to be a very long time. I like the majority here but since I can only choose one person I went through each person in my mind. First of all I would have to find that person enlightening and 'entertaining' , for lack of a better description, to carry me through those 3 days. I came out with 2 names that caused me a problem in deciding. But I settled on Carolly.

One of the 2 names was OpenMind

Because we could hash out our differences on the 'value' of sub-atomic particles, wave motion, the 'carrier',and the effects on humanity of both. I'm not going to elaborate on this here but am simply explaining why he was one of my choices. I decided against him though for the simple reason that he knows more about it than I do and by the time the 3 days were up my hair would be standing on end and it would take me years to 'unconfuse' myself.

The other name was Carolly.

Now Carolly, to me she is some sort of exotic creature that I would like to paint or write a story about. She had once mentioned to me that she had 'worked the markets' and no more was said about it. Now, hmmm, what are the markets and why was she so cold there. I have never been to that part of the world so what I know of it has come out of books. So when Carolly mentioned being so cold at the markets my mind conjured up scenes from novels of 17th century England. Now I know that the market of today is not the same as it was in that time period, but then perhaps in some small ways it still is. So for 3 days Carolly could paint all sorts of pictorial scenes in my mind of what the market looks like today, what is sold there, we can discuss the differences of the old times compared to the new etc. She could regale me with stories of what takes place there and the individuals she had worked with and beside. And I would sit, raptly entranced, imagining her in 17th century England.

So Carolly is my final choice and the above is why.

Oh yeah!!

Don't forget that I lived in a pub before I moved here.

I was one of the few real ale drinkers in the pub (they didn't promote the real ale at my request). That meant I had to finish the barrel before the next delivery or he wouldn't order another one. The landlord could be right mean to me.

Oh, this is a hard one. Three days alone with an FGer....If I was shut up with Kathy, we would decorate the place to look like the beach. :-6 If I was shut up with Minks we would build an igloo and have loads of fun. If Jester, we would talk 'till the cows came home. Nomad, there would be plenty of good music, and I would teach him to play the sax or clarinet, I think he would like that. Odie, we would play with all the critters, and laugh all night. JAB would bring over some good seafood and Old Bay, we would be content. Abbey would have to have the TV to keep up with the football scores-she can bring along my step-sister form Manchester with her too. :) Dr. G would be enlightening, spot would be a delight to chat about history. I would knit a cardigan if Theia or Betty stopped by. Carol could sing while I played the piano, Carla would bring me some good food from home.

Oh my, but if I had to be snowed in, I would like three days of peaceful quiet with Bez, I think that would be delightful and I would learn alot.

Tough question, i cant pick one. The best i can come up with is one for each of the three days.

Day 1 - GMC - He's closest & we could talk about the history & politics of Scotland, i'd also get to play with his dog & hopefully convince him to get another.

Day 2 - Spot - Halfway point, i love how his brain works.

Day 3 - Bryn Mawr - Final destination - Ive always wanted to share a few Laphroaig's with Mr Mawr, talk about bikes, go through his folk music collection & watch all his grandchildren play.

I don't really know a whole lot about my ancient ancestral background, but I have hair that is such a dark brown it is almost black, very, very green eyes, and a small splatter of very small dark freckles across the bridge of my nose that start to fade away under my eyes. I only met my real father once and it was like looking in a mirror except he was male of course. I've been told I look 'black Irish' but I don't feel a bit Irish. However my mum used to cry when she heard the bagpipes. From very old pictures and a smattering of certain words I figured we came from Finland. But since my grandparents came here illegally and no one would ever talk about anything, short of DNA testing I have no idea where we came from. But my eyes and general appearance only fit Ireland or Scotland, I don't know anything about Wales. But there again there is mum and the bagpipes.

I used to have dark brown hair when I was a younger man. It has lightened with age. My beard used to be multi-coloured when I was in my 20s. When the sun shone, it would reflect all the colours of the rainbow. Now it is a dull white going grey.:D

As a teenager, I used to have freckles across my nose but they faded by the time I started to go to work.

I have never met my father - he is the Scottish 50% of me genes. I have a photo of him but my memory of him was replaced by another when I was about two years old. I remember that he used to make me laugh and feel very happy. It's strange that I have that emotional memory of him but not a memory of him.
