It seems that politically correctness today is for a politician to explain loudly and often how much he or she is for the middle class, the working stiff, the average guy. Aside from the fact that such rhetoric is an insult to those people (yeah, it says in effect you are a helpless bunch of know nothings who need to be taken care of and protected), it is plain dangerous. It gets uninformed or partially informed people riled up, it makes people feel victimized and it brings out the nuts that are so easily inclined to seek a scapegoat for their woes.
When the chorus began about AIG bonuses, and was ramped up by the White House and the President, it resulted in death threats and protests at AIG employee homes. Is this how far we have sunk?
