Gushing Obama heaps praise on Gordon Brown in London

I picked this redaers comment from some of the many. Before you say anything..... the poster is an American! He just about sums up the feeling here.
I am totally dumbfounded.. about the carbon foot print that is being done with the entourage of people. and he says he is going green.. what a joke.. What kind of scene is this.. having food tested for poison.. Obama should stay home and get to work.. he can not seem to sit in the office and get the job done. Tax money out the window.. 2013 can not come fast enough is correct. Wait till you see what they succumb to. - he is not so popular it seems now in Europe.. Did Acorn pay for the demonstrators when he visited them?? My tea bag label is being sent today. I will stand on corner with others on the 4/15th to silently protest. - Government is taking over .. where do they stop?? a very concerned person to say the least. This is not going to be the USA of today .. in short order. - write to your congress people.. your senators and voice your opinions. Everyone needs to help in making a change.. we certainly need one now

To be honest Vlad the Impaler would have made a refreshing change from Bush.

Oscar, Obama is in London for a working G20 summit, he is working, and he has to be there. In terms of the entourage, well he and the other leaders can't turn up on bicycles, there are certain issues around their security etc. I don't understand why your being so specifically negative about the U.S. President, he is only one of 20 leaders at this summit, he has to attend, as would have John McCain if he'd been elected. And I don't pick up that British people are in the least bit hostile toward the US President, far from it in fact, he's probably a lot more popular in Britain than the British Prime Minister is. I don't know where you get all this stuff from.

Pity the Obamas felt it necessary to come here in a scenario which closely resembled a Triumphal Entry into Rome! The ancient Roman Emperors could not have done it any better themselves.
Many have said Obama is a humble man. His entourage disproved this to an extent. Half the size would have been more appropriate surely?

Your ever so slightly prejudiced petticoat is ever so slightly showing. Seems to me there are a few people who would rather pour scorn on a man who has barely had chance to warm his seat, rather than praise the day GWB closed the door behind him. Lets see where we are a little way down the line before we judge him. Give him a fair crack of the whip.
This was a big day for evreyone not just the American Administration. A big day for the world. I say, lets see. Results not predictions
Though I suspect nothing will dull your ( and others ) contempt. Your waiting for THAT moment. That point where you all stand up and shout. "There didn't I tell you We knew he would fail. "
I dont get that feeling. Not yet

Strange you should think I am prejudiced, or against the man in any way, as I merely commented on the size of his entourage
Pouring scorn on Obama or anyone else is counter productive unless they have earned it, and he has not had enough time or experience in Office as yet for anyone to make a really reasoned judgement.
Same goes for holding Obama or any other world leader in comtempt
There are many people who sincerely wish Obama to succeed. A good many of us would rather hold our horses until some evidence of success is palpable. There has been an awful lot of hype and a great deal of hysteria over his election as President. This has made me wary. Very few people are able to live up to what we expect of them all the time.
As for waiting for THAT 'moment when he will fail' you could not be further from my own reality. I should be very sad indeed.

Hi Vesuvious and welcome to my world
I said yesterday in another thread that this was the biggest show of hypocricy i have ever seen. Obama bleats on about carbon footprints and then lays on a ridiculous level of self-importent peacockness. His actual manner throughout the G20 summit was dull, bored and un-interesting. I've seen more life in a flat pint of John Smiths.
My biggest critism of Obama throughout the US campaign trail was the ridiculous amounts of money to stage his speeches while his country lay in economic ruin.

I'm aware of that. When the weather has cleared, if not already then up it goes. My sarcasm was pointed at the fact that N. korea has been a crisis for years not one that popped up to suprise a President in office all of 2 months

Hi Oscar
I think we feel the same about Hype! Extremely suspicious
I could venture to suggest because of all this Hype, and because of what is expected of Obama, (expected perhaps not so much by himself as the frenzied mob), that the usual suspects are coming out of the woodwork to challenge him and to see just what he is made of?
Perhaps once he has been in Office for a year, this may calm down?
The jury is out, obviously. I cannot make predictions, nor should anyone else. The man is human, despite his being given extraordinary 'powers' by that same frenzied mob.
Everything and everyone has to calm down until he is left to do his job, rise to the challenges, overcome them, and maintain peace.
If he can do this, then he will have my utmost support.
Let's all pray he can for the world very much depends on this.

Gushing Obama heaps praise on Gordon Brown in London

Hi,
If the man achieves all that he has talked of, i shall eat my humble pie with some custard graciously.
Until then, let's praise the man who really deserves it........GORDON BROWN
