Suggestions for birds please.....

Post by Oscar Namechange »

In a few weeks one of my wishes will come to fruition when my new bird avairy is built.

My pal is keeping some 'Orange Bishops' for me until i'm ready but i'm a bit lost as to what to add.

My nephew has a huge avairy full of the usual budgie's, canary's, finches etc, but i want something a little more unusual.

Does any-one know of any birds that can live outside and survive a British winter?

Pics would be appreciated if you have any idea's.

No Nomad...... It won't be big enough for Condor's and Vultures.

Bet ya don't get many crows though. Those huge buggers that feed off the main A roads are rare to see in the garden. Love their 'you don't scare me' attitude before they reluctantly get off the road to let you pass.

Don't talk to me about crows. We get swarms of the buggers. First thing in the morning, they all swoop on the spot where i put the fox food fpr any morsels that are left. They are vicious thugs and i've even seen them see off the largest of seagulls. I also get Jackdaws and Ravens.

There's loads of stuff online for British birds that can be kept in aviaries but I can't find much for foreign birds.

On the other hand, these have foreign birds.

Cornwall Birds - North Cornwall Aviaries

or

Avalon Aviary Bird Store - Bird Size Guide

This directory might be useful later

Everything! One morning at the beach we were woken up to giant gulls going through trash cans...the racket! They were eating someone's left over pizza.

Yes they are! We were looking at yellow finches the other day at my dad's. He feeds the birds too. Has about 4 feeders all on one tree. He also has two indoor cats who always sit on the windowsill looking:sneaky:

I'm getting some quails from her as well but i have to admit that although i have a fairly good knowledge of wild birds, i don't know that much about avairy birds. I must do some research into caring for them.

I'm having a pond built at the same time as well and my bro has herds of baby koi waiting for me as well.

I want to fill the patio area with some loverly ferns and if poss, palms. Then I'll be happy :):)

No i won't...... I'm a woman..... I shall want something else when that's done :yh_rotfl

YouTube - Seagulls Sound Off!

I already know the sound of gulls' crying. They echo in those villages set in a hillside up from the sea.

I used to like the sound as it always reminded me of the sea when I was a kid.

I get smaller gulls wheeling about where I live during the winter. My daughter likes watching them with me.
