The Unthinkable happened!!! (I'll most likely be moving)

Well, we got home from Kansas City last night at 11pm. We noticed something funny, it was that an ant trap that we had hidden behind the floor length curtins was in the middle of the floor! And then a mouse trap we had hidden under the couch in the sun room was moved to the other side of the room. Well we were hungry, so we went to the local IHOP that's open 24 hours. We came back home, we were tired, & so we went to sleep.

This morning I was doing the bills that were accumulated in the mail slot during the last 8 days we were gone.

Then all of a sudden it happened!!!! Our peacfull world came to an end!!!!! The loudest shreeking, terrified, screaming, came from the Mrs in the other room, a SNAKE, a SNAKE!!! She was hysterecically crying!!! I ran and got a rake, and went into the room & there was about a 3 foot SNAKE ( I HATE SNAKES) coiled up about 4 feet from where she was sitting at the putter! I then scooped it up & threw it outside, but the life altering, life will never be the same, event happened! She is so very tefrrified, and does not want to spend the next two nights here till we go back to NE on Monday!! I then had to tell her about the A/C senerio and how it came in through the condensatation pipe line, and then it got out through a hole in the A/C unit. I since have tapped up every hole in the A/C unit, and put a screen on the condensation pipe. She is so very frazziled, and rightly so, I knew how she would react if she knew all. She may just go to a hotel before the night is over!

(My worst nightmare came true!)

She may just go to a hotel before the night is over! I'm guessing that some-thing is attracting them cars. Any animal or reptile will go where there is food. Do you have any signs of mice that they may be looking for? A sign would be small mouse droppings. If this is the problem and you can get rid of what's attracting them, they will go. Another theory, is your area particulary cold at this time of the year? reptiles will find ways of getting into a house for warmth?

I would be packed and living in an apartment somewhere temporary Cars! I am terrified of snakes as well, saw a dead one on the road today and was scared a bit until I saw that it was squished beyond squishing!!!!

I loved how you saved the day though! You are a good man!:-6

The SNAKE had to be the one that slithered through our A/C condensation pipe line, 10 or so days ago, mentioned in another thead. Apparently it got out of the A/C unit, and stayed hidden until we were gone for 8 days. Then when it thought it was safe, it must have started looking for food.

Tragically, for my wife, she saw it before I did!!

Well anyway, it's like this, when she was threatened, my fear went out the window, there was no fear on my part to do what ever I had to do to protect her!!! It sort of just came naturally without even thinking about it!

I knew that snake wouldn't go far if they have food where they are at. I feel for your wife I know her fear all to well. You should have killed it, it will come back if there is a food source. They are every where so moving won't solve anything. Maybe have your house snake proofed if that is possible. I would have under your house checked out in case it was a mama snake and it had babies.

What kind of snake was it?? Most are harmless.

The wife made sure all our boxes we're shipping via UPS today, were taped all tight, and then re-taped. All our luggage was "sipped tight" for the night, and then re-inspected, and will be continued to be loaded today. :wah:

(She was a brave trooper, & toughed it out & stayed the night here! I kept reassuring her every 5 minutes, that it was safe, & it was gone!)

I'm sure you are the hero in your wife's eyes for your quick response.

Hubby and I have noticed some snakes outside our home in the last month. Yesterday. hubby even shot at one right at the bottom of the steps from our back porch. We could not tell whether he got 'em or not. The carnage we saw was just a broken pottery bowl. No carcass. :wah:

To me, snakes are just animals trying to survive like all other animals. While I would not want one roaming inside my home, or startling me with it's presence, I am not afraid of them. I prefer to keep my distance and respect their space, and for the snake to do the same.

There was a poor little snake who lost his way and cars went and poured bleach on him. Now he's gone and rounded up all his bro's in the hood to come back for revenge and force Cars out of his home. Watch out for the 'Chameleon' breed of snake. they can change their appearence from a snake to a cardboard box covered in tape. It's their way of making sure they travel with you to your new home.

My husband was cleaning the rafters of this little shed-like room that is on the back of the house. He found a very long snake skin. Why oh why did he have to show it to me? :-5

Well, today, I happend to walk by the Mrs while she was "on-line". And what do you think she was looking at? Yep you guessed it, new Condos for sale in FL!!!

I told her just to put her mind at ease, that we could get an experienced "exterminator" to give our FL place a once over. As it would be an overkill, as even though, it was just a fluke one in a billion thing, we would do it for her just to be able to rest easy. (and me too I guess)

But, time will tell, I may be moving after all............
