*sigh*

I made a website for my sister in law a couple of years ago through Freewebs, she was starting up a small business and i done the website for her birthday making the account premium so there were no ads. I enjoyed doing it and she liked it.

Some time later she decided to have someone do a fancy website for her so the 1st one was no longer required. I cancelled it.

You can imagine my surprise then when i got a renewal in. I told them it was cancelled but they said the domain was still showing on my account. It was a struggle to remember the password to get into the account and i got all the security questions wrong (wtf) Anyway eventually after doing my head in about a week later i remembered it and signed in. It quite clearly said there were no domains registered in that account so obviously i had been right enough and had actually cancelled it, so i took a screenshot and sent it to them. On the screenshot it quite clearly stated the name of the account was the same as the domain name i had registered and i was in it.

Now they are saying i am signed into the wrong account and the domain name is still active. But i dont have another account !!!!

They deducted another two years payment from my paypal account for a website i cancelled.

How do i get rid of these people? I dont want a bill in another two years for something not in use.

Go to PayPal and dispute it as service not rendered.

I did Bryn.

Paypal went in favour of the domain provider and closed the case so i did not have an opportunity to send them the screenshot, they also stated it was a prepaid agreement i had with the domain provider at paypal so i looked under my paypal account details for any pre paid arrangements i have at paypal and guess what? I dont have any listed. I was in such a rage with paypal i cancelled my account with them. This of course was after i had paid for the next two years.

I sent a complaint to them stating that i believe what they done was illegal but i doubt it will make any difference.

So i remain with the big problem of how to get rid of the domain provider as they will not cancel an account without going through the steps of cancelling a domain attatched to it. Its clear to see on the screenshot there is no domain so i cant take it any further. I just dont know what to do, it seems like one big con :-5

Then can you try the trading standards or the CAB?

Certainly, having cancelled your PayPal account they have no automated route to getting more money out of you and would have to take it to court - if they thought they had a cat in hell's chance of convincing them you owed more.

Thanks Kaz, ive bookmarked it to look at later, my head is so done in i'm having a few days break from it. Apparently i'm not the only one having issues with this company and they are known by many other names as well. Wild west domains and GoDaddy being two of the bigger one's.
