I voted Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want. I've decided to marry my horse.
I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn't.
I voted Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.
I voted Democrat because freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.
I voted Democrat because when we pull out of Iraq I trust that the bad guys will stop what they're doing because they now think we're good people.
I voted Democrat because I'm way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.
I voted Democrat because I believe that people who can't tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius.
I voted Democrat because I'm not concerned about the slaughter of millions of babies so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.
I voted Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as THEY see fit.
I voted Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite The Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.
I voted Democrat because my head is so firmly planted up my butt that it is unlikely that I'll ever have another point of view.

This is one my gripes about republicans and democrats in recent years, actually.
Nothing of substance to offer up. It's all bumper stickers and sound bites. They quit trying to capture the imagination of Americans and instead try to capture our fears with crap like this.
At the end of the day, we are more then our fears, thank god.
I firmly believe that anyone who votes straight party ticket or imposes a one issue litmus test voting strategy... has their heads up their ass so far that they can no longer see Americas promise and potential for the **** in their eyes.
And this? Old but still accurate ? Once again, false advertising.
Less amusing, but far more accurate, would be to post this The Democratic Party
and tear it apart. It's a link to the platform they ran on last year.
Much easier to go with the bumper sticker mentality, I agree.

Well, you are free to point out what isn't true. I posted this on another board made up of rural folks. Most were in agreement except one, the board's token liberal. I ask him the same thing. To explain what was not true. He declined too. He only wanted to downplay the post but would not offer up anything substantial either.

Yeah, that one is a bit far out, but only for now. Give the 'crats a bit longer in office and that may change too.:wah:

That's just being evasive dear. I'm neither democrat or republican, liberal nor conservative. I happen to vote each issue or politician I vote on. When uninformed, I don't vote the item or person. Crap throwing, like your OP just highlight how uninformed most of the electorate is today. It's all about not being one of 'them'... whoever they are.
It needs to be about being for something, having something to offer. I'm just sick and tired of the 'vote for my guy because he's not the other guy' mentality.
But I'm more then happy to look at the inaccuracy of the statements...

Can you quote me a Democratic politician that believes this? Campaigned on this. We are in Iraq, because we were lied to. And look what has been accomplished...

For those republicans whose selling point is that there hasn't been a terrorist attack on american soil since 9/11, I'd have to ask them why in the world they think anyone would have bothered... we've lost more americans in the aftermath then we did in the event itself.
I seriously doubt you will find that more then a handful of folks considered or care about iraqi behavior if we get out. They just think we need to be out of a country we never should have gone into from the gitgo. And that's not Democrats darlin'... that's Americans. They crossed party lines on this item in the general election of 2008

I'd like to see the campaign literature that states this goal by a democratic politician. Then I'd be interested in whether or not he won.
According to exit polling, it was the economy, stupid. In the general election, more folks crossed over and voted for democrats/or didn't cross over and vote republican because of the state of the economy and a sense that we needed to try something new, then they did for either reasons of war or religion.
And I think that most American businesses will be more then happy to simply hit break-even again.
I do think we will find ourselves in heaps of dooo if we try to penalize a business that can't afford to provide health-care already. Have insurance companies been making money? I don't see how they aren't considering they take our money and then routinely deny claims .
