Reasons for transexuals to keep their genitalia

Transsexualism is a condition in which an individual identifies with a physical sex different from the one they were born with. They often have hormone treatment, breast, hip and butt implants and yet keep their penis and testicles. Why?

I seen a t.v show recently where one who had the above procedures done stated that although he wished to be a woman now, he was born a man and wished to die a man.

What other reasons would make them want to keep their genitalia?

I think each person has his or her own reasons for remaining intact or going the whole way ..as it were.

The sliding scale of body or gender disassociation is complicated going from transvestite, transexual, transgender....

Simply dressing in womens clothes well I know people who do this as a release, another who does it as part of an SM realtionship.

Another man I know is now living as a woman but not considering any surgery he is happy as he is for the time being.

At the other end of the scale I know a 16 yr old who is so depressed, convinced he cannot live as a man and horrified by the changes in his body he wants gender reassignment but cannot even begin consultations until he is 18.

I think it is individual choice and I try to accept each person as he or she presents themselves to me.

It doesn't make any difference what they have cut off or added on - you can't physically change sex.
